Our fifth stay in the cottage and hopefully not our last.
We missed out last spring due to covid so we were especially looking forward to visiting this May.The village of Armathwaite is very quiet and picturesque, there are two very good food serving pubs and a well appointed shop. The locals and the neighbours are very friendly. There are plenty of walks from the village and you are only a short drive from The Lake District. The cottage itself is cosy and full of character. It has recently gone through some subtle but significant improvements. The master bedroom has been reconfigured to give more space and has a much classier feel to it. There's a new comfortable double bed and some funky new lighting.
There's a new log burner in the main living space which is very efficient and has been cleverly repositioned to give more space. The host is really easy to deal with and clearly cares about your stay, we can't wait to visit again.
6 of us stayed here this week. The cottage is fully equipped and full of atmosphere.
A large kitchen, lounge, shower room and a utility room downstairs, and 3 double bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.
Access is up a steep little hill and then through a tiny shared yard. It's very quaint, but gave me some problems as I have walking difficulties.
Really enjoying our spring stays in The Eden Valley and would not look using this place as our base. The house is clean quirky and comfortable and the host is really easy to deal with.
Armathwaite has two great pubs and lots of walks without needing to get into the car, The Lake district is only a 45 mins drive away. Can't wait till next Spring.
Lovely well equipped cottage that is a very good base for Cumbria, Yorkshire and Scotland. The village is very friendly, great local shop that sells everything and a post Office where you can withdraw cash. There are two very good dog friendly pubs in the village which are a short walk from the cottage. There are also some lovely walks for the walkers. 10/10 all round.
Lovely, well equipped cottage in the beautiful village of Armathwaite. We visited for my birthday Fri - Mon. Everything we needed was there. Even a complimentary pint of milk! 6 of us stayed for 3 nights but wished we could have stayed longer! Bedrooms were abit of a squeeze .. 3 bedrooms all 3 with double beds, 1 huge bath (great for a bubble bath after a long walk!), 3 toilets so with 6 adults there was no arguing for the bathroom! Neighbours and locals were very friendly and often came over whilst we were in the pubs to chat to us. The village Post Office is open 7 days a week (reasonable prices too!) 2 pubs within walking distance, both dog friendly.. the Dukes Head wins out of the two I must say! Overall, we all said we would definitely return to the delightful Eden Grove cottage! Thank you Rachel! :)
