Having eaten here a few days ago, I feel like I need to.
I have always used Tripadvisor to share great experiences and shout about great service and excellent, hard working staff in the hospitality industry.
However, when arriving at The Princess Royal, we were greeted by a staff member, who when seated us proceeded to tell us about the menu and when we asked about the specials she responded with ‘I couldn’t tell you... it’s been a long day.’ We did joke with her, because one of our party had walked passed the specials board and managed to recite to the rest of the table the three items they had on there.
Whilst ordering our food we hit a snag, as one of our party is vegan and had pre ordered a food option, so that it could be “prepared” however... after discussion it became apparent that it had not been prepared, as the server asked various questions to attempt to find out her needs/likes for the dish.
Having finally ordered our dishes and receiving our starters within half an hour... we proceeded to wait a further hour and a half for our main courses... When we flagged this to a server he asked if they had already cleared our starters.
Some of these issues could have been excusable had the restaurant been busy, but as we were one of only four tables there it really was not.
When our main meals finally came out the majority of the meals were incredibly sub standard. Flavourless, lukewarm and definitely not worth the wait.
We raised our issues and the manager was sent over to deal with us. Unfortunately, there was no apology given whatsoever and the only reason for our terrible evening was that “there was a mix up in the kitchen”.
This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had in a Fullers pub, or any pub for that matter.
