My mom wanted to join me in an adventurous trip so i planned a trip to stay at Gopeng Rainforest Resort. We planned for 3D2N at the resort, with White Water Rafting and Cave Trekking.
Firstly, i was very happy that the email replies from David were very prompt. He made sure that the bus ticket that went to Gopeng was correct and gave clear instructions on where i should wait for him when arrived. Upon arrival, they brought us to have a good dim sum breakfast. During conversations, they found out that we were Christians and brought us to visit their church! Christ Church Ipoh is welcoming and homely.
During our stay, we met a local friend, Eleanor, who did the activities with us. It was enjoyable having an extra friend that was about my mother's age. They clicked very well and she too, enjoyed the stay there. Aunty Janice (wife of David), prepared a range of delicious dishes for us to enjoy before and after our activities. Even the kaya spread was homemade! In the nights, it was cooling even without air-con, with birds chirping! Back to nature, what we wanted since we were from Singapore, a busy city.
Activities were very fun, the Riverbug guide was fun to be with! During cave trekking, Aunty Janice and Uncle David explained how the structures in the caves are formed and made sure our safety was covered. Their son, Daniel, led us in the cave trekking too!
Aunty Janice was very sincere and even helped us to look at our hostel which we were going to stay after the 3days with them. Knowing that we were females, they advised us to stay at somewhere safer. We booked a new hotel and she drove us down. Before alighting us, she told us where to visit in Ipoh and also drove us around the old and new town to show us whereabouts to have good food and things to see!
The stay was more than fantastic, more than what i have expected. Thank God for this opportunity to have met Uncle David, Aunty Janice, Daniel and our new friend, Eleanor.
