Good food, authentic friendly hosts. Check out the baby freshwater croc in the aquarium. Stayed on a powered site, pool, laundry and camp kitchen. Lots of bird life. Tony behind the bar might tell you about the secret waterhole nearby for a swim.

We were motorcyclists enjoying a journey from Cooktown to Darwin. Near the end of our travels we rode through the Kakadu National Park. The day we arrived at the Mary River Roadhouse the temperature was 40 degrees. We pulled up under the shade of a picnic table shelter. This happened to be on quite unkempt grass. We rode smoothly causing no damage. A man from the roadhouse came directly out and ordered us from the area. This was done in an aggressive manner. We moved our bikes however certainly did not purchase refreshments and fuel as was planned. Word of warning to other motorcyclists!

Disappointing after a long drive, but it is a remote location. It has the essentials but don't expect to get a greeting in return. Toilets & basic camping available.

We were not happy to pay $40 for a powered site at Mary River Roadhouse. They have no competition as the only one in the area. We had driven from Katherine that day. At Happy hour we were charged $5 each for a house wine and a soft drink. Will not recommend, better to drive further for better value.

It can be a long and thirsty road when your travelling the top end. The road house is an intriguing and eclectic stop for either a bite to eat, fuel or something to quench the thirst.
We stopped for the drink and something to eat quick and weren't disappointed. Don't expect silver tray service, this is thong and singlet service if your lucky. But the drink is cold, essential, the food good, so what more could you want.
There area a few things to look at or just stop for a yarn, there is always someone to engage, whether it be a local or a fellow traveller. Its a stop that has to be made whether you need to or not.
