Elissa and I just spent 2 wonderful nights at Christie and Tony's Mary River roadhouse and had a blast !! The food was exceptional and the company of the owners whist having a few quite ones was brilliant.. The Motel room was well maintained and comfortable with great air con but most of all the serenity was devine as was the pool... We loved every minute of the time there and look forward to coming back as soon as we can

Good food, authentic friendly hosts. Check out the baby freshwater croc in the aquarium. Stayed on a powered site, pool, laundry and camp kitchen. Lots of bird life. Tony behind the bar might tell you about the secret waterhole nearby for a swim.

We were motorcyclists enjoying a journey from Cooktown to Darwin. Near the end of our travels we rode through the Kakadu National Park. The day we arrived at the Mary River Roadhouse the temperature was 40 degrees. We pulled up under the shade of a picnic table shelter. This happened to be on quite unkempt grass. We rode smoothly causing no damage. A man from the roadhouse came directly out and ordered us from the area. This was done in an aggressive manner. We moved our bikes however certainly did not purchase refreshments and fuel as was planned. Word of warning to other motorcyclists!

Disappointing after a long drive, but it is a remote location. It has the essentials but don't expect to get a greeting in return. Toilets & basic camping available.
