The Hotel itself is very nice, the whole area is a garden. The rooms are nice and they have quite comfortable beds, the food is allright i guess but i don't fancy the northern italian cuisine at all. The Staff was friendly and we had alot of fun.

This is not our first time that we visit the Hotel Giardinetto and once again they exceed our expectation all the way.
We were coming from the airport with an early flight and they accommodate us earlier without a problem. The rooms we've got was overlooking this beautiful lake and was nicely set up with an extra bed for our little girl.
The breakfast was served on this nice terrace near by the little beach and on the buffet you can find anything you like from fresh fruit to bakery items and eggs of course.
The food is traditional with fresh local ingredients and fishes from the lake of course and the service is very professional but friendly at the same time.
Our first days of our Holidays couldn't start better then that!
You must visit if you are or plan to visit the area and ask for "Ezio" (if I remember correctly) for some other local recommendations because we discover many other little place to go that we will never found otherwise.
We will definitely be back!
Thank you

Room Tip: Get the lake view on the upper level. Beautiful!

My husband and I have just returned from a lovely 4 night break at this wonderful place.

PROS:
* Great 3 star - one of the best 3* we've been in
* View from our room (123) was amazing. Right over the lake. Gorgeous!
* The food was lovely! Very quick service and always great attentive staff (although they need more vegetarian options on the menu)
* Location of the hotel was right on the lake. Lake Orta itself is pretty quiet but we loved that it was virtually untouched by tourism
* The most comfortable bed Ive ever slept on! And memory foam pillows!! Air con is awesome too.
* Lakeside deck had lots of sun loungers and was very peaceful
* Swimming pool was nice, albeit cold but was lovely on a hot day
* Lots of parking available

CONS:
* The boat to Orta San Giulia needs to be more frequent. Either 9.25,12.30 or 6pm! We missed the 12.30 boat as we were waiting for our bill in a restaurant so had to get a taxi back. It would be nice to be able to visit other parts of the island with a more frequent boat
* The pool is a little dirty. The steps to get out aren't secure and the bushes spoil the view of the lake. In the pictures of the hotel, it doesnt show any bushes between the pool and the lake.
* It would be better to have a little bar outside. When you are wet from swimming, you have to go through the restaurant to get to the bar which isnt ideal. Drinks are quite expensive too

All in all, the pros far outweigh the cons. I'd love to go back!!!

We stayed at Hotel Giardinetto for two nights at the start of our European adventure. We chose this location, as we had read that the other lakes in the area were more touristy and Lake Orta was the ‘undiscovered lake’; we chose well.

The hotel was situated right on the lakeside with uninterrupted views of the lake; as the road was behind it; parking was very easy and the staff on reception, especially Stephanie, were lovely.

I loved this hotel. First impressions of the communal areas exuded the feeling that the hotel was ‘old fashioned’, but the rooms were a complete contrast; they were light and airy, with comfy beds and the best air conditioning I have ever experienced. On first impressions you may not be swept away, but I fell in love with this hotel and its idiosyncrasies. We booked two lake view rooms and they did not disappoint, the views from the rooms were fabulous.

We were on the second floor which was beneficial, as the restaurant and ‘beach area’ were below. I am sure this would not have been an issue on a lower floor, but at night the sound did travel upwards, but once the patio doors were closed, this noise was eliminated.

Breakfast was served on the outside terrace overlooking the lake, which provided a perfect location; the breakfast was very good and was buffet style with a large selection. We did not eat dinner at the hotel, although the restaurant was very busy on Sunday lunchtime, but decided to walk along the path by the lake into Pettenasco itself (about 20 minutes) and discovered a beautiful little restaurant, tucked away down an alley, Vecchio Forno dallo Zio Aldo – thank you Trip advisor.

There was a boat which ran on a daily timetable from one end of the lake, stopping at Orta San Giulio and during the day it called in at the hotel; it could also be caught from Pettenasco, if the times of departure from the hotel were not suitable.

Orta San Giulio was a beautiful little town, very old, but with plenty of restaurants and bars. We caught another boat over to San Giulio Island which was worth a visit. It was lovely just wandering through the little narrow streets, soaking up the atmosphere. We then returned back to Orta San Giulio and climbed for approximately 30 minutes (576 metres) uphill to a beautiful viewpoint at Sacro Monte di Orta. This is a UNESCO world heritage site and is the location of 20 chapels all with fresco’s which can be viewed. On our descent down, we stopped off in Piazza Motta and had a refreshing beverage, whilst waiting for the boat to return to the hotel.

Before arriving at our hotel, we drove and parked (eventually) in a side street in Stresa, as all the car parks were full to capacity. Lake Maggiore is a much larger and much more commercialised lake than Orta, with many tourists, large hotels, restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. We took a boat over to the Borromean islands from the jetty in Stresa. We bought a ticket for 2 of the islands, so first stop was Isola dei Pescatori; a very quaint little island where we wandered and grabbed some lunch. We then boarded the boat – which ran approx every 30 minutes and were dropped off at Isola Bella. We did not pay to go into the house and gardens, but just wandered around the island, enjoying the views and strolling through the little winding streets. On our return to Stresa, we then drove through Baveno and onto Lake Orta; I think we definitely chose the right lake for us to stay at.

I would willingly return to this hotel for a longer stay, the hotel, the staff, the location were all perfect for either a relaxing or energetic holiday, but whatever choice, Lake Orta is a beautiful destination and the Hotel Giardinetto a fabulous choice.

The Hotel Giardinetto is a fabulous family run hotel. We return time and time again because of the amazing welcome from the staff and the management, the wonderful position of the hotel directly on Lake Orta and the great food served in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Choose a lakeside room
