Owner description: This is a great hike along the nature and heritage trail that runs from the village of Akra to the village of Ferkingstad. Cultural and historical monuments lie in abundance between Akra and the boathouse ruins at Hop. The hike starts in the north end of the beach at Akra. From here you can enjoy the view of the white beaches stretching along the shore. The hike follows a natural path, and along here you can see and sense a rich fauna and birdlife. On the south end of the beach the tour continues over to a historical area, dating back to the Viking Age. Here you will see stone monuments symbolizing the two daughters of King Augvald, one of our Viking kings. The tour continues to Ferkingstad beach, another beach worth seeing. Afterwards you will walk to the charming boat harbour, built in the 1960’s. You will also visit the boathouse ruins, used by the Vikings to drag their ships ashore. The tour finishes at Fisherman’s Memorial, a monument symbolizing local fishermen who lost their lives at sea.

Walk the nice beaches of karmøy, enjoy the calm, wind, sea, air, nature. Sit down, do nothing, rest.

The beaches of Karmøy is a must when you visit the region. You have to be a bit of a viking to go swiming there, NOT warm waters, but breathtaking views both on calm and stormy days. Any time of the year, it is nice to go for a walk and if you are into windsurfing it is a great place for that. Easy to get to, and easy to walk for all ages.

Beatiful, sandy beaches, a bit cold in the water though... but July/August you might get it around 20 degrees celsius. But a great place for a picnic, maybe a surf or just enjoying nature.

I have never expected to see white beaches in the northern Europe, especially in Norway. Karmoy beaches are amazing, white sand and blue water looks liketropical lagoon, very nice place to visit!

The beaches in Åkra are some of the most breathtaking I have ever seen, especially at sunset. Make sure to take a jacket, it often is very windy.
