Last minute booking whilst driving the national tourist routes in norway. As soon as it started to get near dark done a quick search for last minute accomodation and found the ro hotel in geilo. Ok for 1 nights stay , fairly large and clean bedroom/living area but bathroom was tight but ok as we we're only staying for a night and basically just wanted a clean bed for the night. Very quite area as ski season was yet to begin , Ate at peppes pizza which was open till 10pm , not much else going on out of season. Breakfast again was ok as we only stayed the 1 night , the usuall cold meats and cheeses and cereal and boiled eggs but no other hot food ie , bacon , beans , saussages etc.. Parked directly outside the hotel half on the pavement and half on the road which is where the receptionist/owner told us to park. All in all ok for 1 night but would have probably wanted a larger bathroom and better breakfast if staying any longer.

Fairly pricey for what you get. A very basic room with small bathroom. The included breakfast was also very basic, some bread, cheese, cold meats and cereal. They did take the booking on the day. Reception doubled as the kitchen hand. Admittedly this would no doubt be a hive of activity in the ski season. The train runs behind the building, our room was on the front and we didn't hear the trains at all. Good sound proofing. The bathroom floor has heating.

We arrived just before 7pm on a Monday which made it difficult for us to get a meal. Found a pizza place that closed at 8pm so we couldn't eat there but they served take away. The front desk staff wasn't too pleased when we brought the pizza back to the hotel and we were then told that there was another pizza place open to 10pm. Don't know why he didn't inform us about that before we left the hotel in search of somewhere to eat. Apart from that the hotel was all right, good beds, clean bathroom (even though the floor got filled with water when you had a shower) and good breakfast.

Room Tip: If you don't like to climb too many stairs, ask for a room as far down as possible as there are no lift.

Super location near the train station. Very basic and simple lodgings, but everything you need. The cafeteria attached is also very simple and hearty--good eating for hungry nature lovers. Showers are small, but do the job. Best part is its location in a small resort town surrounded by great hiking paths and trails of all levels. We loved Geilo and can't wait to return. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Spent a night in geillo to break train journey between bergen and oslo. Pleased so close to station as snow falling heavily when arrived. Ended up eating in cafe next door as most restaurants seemed closed monday evening - a bit limiting as stop serving at 6pm. Room pleasant once turned heating up a little - breakfast selection more restricted than in larger places but fair enough.
