We stayed one night at this hotel to break our journey by train from Oslo to Haugastol. Small hotel with limited amenities but clean and comfortable. Very conveniently near the station, local shops and restaurants. The cafe/restaurant attached to the hotel was closing early the evening we were there.
Reception is on the first floor, with rooms above. The lack of a lift and a spiral staircase could make access difficult for some guests.
A trip hazard is near the ground floor entrance door as a metal grill is not flush with the pavement.
Excellent local walks either at low level around the lake or by climbing the nearby hills/mountains.

Stayed overnight at this hotel to break our journey while driving from Bergen to Oslo. Geilo is a small town and is a skiing destination during winter. The hotel three-storey building is old and located near downtown. There is no lift and carrying your luggage (if heavy) up to your room will need some effort. Facilities are basic but good value for money for those whose purpose for coming to Geilo is skiing or for those who just want to stay overnight like us. Parking are avalable but limited. Breakfast is rather good.

This is a small very quiet family run hotel, so do not expect 24 hour reception service or other large hotel conveniences. The building is 70s (I guess), looks a bit tired in places, but everything seems to be in working order, and the room, while basic, was entirely adequate. Breakfast is quite basic but again, adequate. I believe many stay here on full board, I did not try that. The price I paid for a mid week stay was no great bargain but all right. Very good location, right by the railway station, so it is a good place if you do not have a car. You can hear trains passing, if that bothers you.

Well spent money. Old, low standard, but downtown the little village. Close to everything. Good service from the staff. Bathrooms small as they were on a boat. But for the money you pay, its not a big deal. Would stay here again!

Last minute booking whilst driving the national tourist routes in norway. As soon as it started to get near dark done a quick search for last minute accomodation and found the ro hotel in geilo. Ok for 1 nights stay , fairly large and clean bedroom/living area but bathroom was tight but ok as we we're only staying for a night and basically just wanted a clean bed for the night. Very quite area as ski season was yet to begin , Ate at peppes pizza which was open till 10pm , not much else going on out of season. Breakfast again was ok as we only stayed the 1 night , the usuall cold meats and cheeses and cereal and boiled eggs but no other hot food ie , bacon , beans , saussages etc.. Parked directly outside the hotel half on the pavement and half on the road which is where the receptionist/owner told us to park. All in all ok for 1 night but would have probably wanted a larger bathroom and better breakfast if staying any longer.
