This tavern/hotel is set in the beautiful valley at the foot of Mount Tambourine.
The choice of food was very good, the drinks selection wide and the service was good too.
During our visit, there was an excellent band playing and there were many activities for the kids as well.
Well worth a visit.

...but the food looked good. This place is obviously popular and is designed to appeal to a decidedly middle of the road crowd. Full bar, barbecue and other food. Outdoor courtyard and indoor seating. There was a pretty average live band when we were there which was loud to the extent that it made it hard to talk over it. Family friendly - lots of families and children when we were there. Cane toad racing at 3pm daily. Plenty of onsite parking. Very average.

During mid summer 17 the sand pit play area had no sun shade as it had been damaged some time earlier.
The outdoor eating area was partly serviced by elevated mist sprays to relieve the humidity.
The animal show advertised time was delayed by almost 30 minutes
The Sunday band seemed to rate excessive noise with talent.
Probably best for young parents or drinking mates in their thirties or younger.

If you are going there for lunch choose a burger. They looked good. We paid for 2 meals at $50 for the Special line caught Spanish Makeral with Chef salad and thick cut chips. Second dish was the battered barramundi salad and chips. The images conjured up by the menu were shattered when the meals were placed down. I imagined 2 nice pieces of fish on each plate. The Spanish Makeral was over cooked to a rubbery bite. It was a thick small piece. The chips were normal frozen packet chips. The chefs salad was pearl couscous some thick cheese and crunchy flavourless beetroot. NOT thick cut. The barramundi resembled 3 pieces of New Zealand whiting. Totally not worth the money paid. We travelled from Tweed Heads and had a bit of a wait for food to arrive so we ate what was served up. We were asked how it was and did tell how it was.
In short order the burger. Wish we had.

This place could be so much better if the owners didn't want to make all their money from the weekends.
If you visit mid week, be prepared to wait a while before a staff member realises that you're waiting. Don't order anything on tap because the glasses we had all had black mould inside.
The food was ok.... but too expensive & we had the mains arrive BEFORE the starters (so we refused the starters when they were delivered when we'd nearly finished the mains, we had to get a refund - they offered desserts, but by that time we were over it).
