Dating back to 1648, Alte Friesenstube is supposed to be the oldest restaurant around.
They serve typical Frisian dishes in a dining room with walls covered by wood and the typical tiles of the area.
We had the flounder/lobster and the roasted duck. Both were delicious.

Alte Friesenstube was by far one of the best restaurants me and my family tried during our trip to Sylt. We were welcomed in a very friendly manner to an amazingly beautiful traditional house. The food was more than delicious and the atmosphere was so hyggelig ❤️ We dined in two times during our stay and they always found a table for us, even though we didn't book in advance. Thank you Alte Friesenstube for such lovely evenings! We cannot wait to visit Sylt again and dine at your beautiful restaurant.

Per the other reviews, this is a very quaint, cosy restaurant. It was very full, nice atmosphere and very good food. Service was also spot on.
Make sure you reserve in advance during holidays.

Housed in an 1648 building with period details, the Alt Friesenstube provided a great dinner. One guest had the locally raised lamb and pronounced it delicious. Others had fish from the North sea. The fish wrapped in prosciutto was particularly good. While not inexpensive, it was the most creative meals that we were served in the Sylt area. They have En
glish translated menus which was helpful for us.

You have to try the tartare starter which has three wonders to try from. The setting is quaint. The staff are friendly. And yes they even had English menus! I would also recommend the lamb... Their chef is just a genius. I can't wait to go back!
