I recently stayed in the Hotel Roth in Westerland, Germany. My room had a balcony which was spacious and had nice views of the sea and the city itself. The bed was very comfortable, eventhough it had a soft mattress, which I generally do not like, as I suffer from lower back pain, but this mattress did not affect my back in any way. The bathroom was very well equipped with a bath and a seperate shower. The decor was bright and airy. The breakfast buffet was very good, with a choice of hot and cold as well as the usual cereals. The orange juice was made as you required it, with the oranges being squeezed in front of you, as was the carrot juice. There were a number of other juices as well. The cold buffet was extensive, with a huge variety of fresh fruits, fruit compotes, salads, cheese of all varieties, cold meats and salmon, accompanied by an equal array of fresh breads. There was a restaurant and a Bar as well as a small lobby where one could enjoy a coffee. There was also a Spa but I cannot comment on this as I did not visit the Spa area. The staff were all very courteous and friendly and very helpful.
This is a hotel I would not hesitate to recommend to any traveller.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors have sea view.

We were given the choice of a hotel room or an "apartment". We chose the apartment and it turned out to be perfect. It was an efficiency with a well-equipped kitchen area, a bath, a bedroom / living room and a balcony. The twin beds in the bedroom flipped up into the wall, making the room a comfortable (approx.)15 x 15 living area. The sofa flipped out futon style, so you could actually sleep 4, but it would be tight with all the beds open. We went across the street to the bakerei and down the street to the grocery store and made our own breakfast after the first day. We could easily have prepared all of our meals in the kitchenette if we'd wanted to. The hotel offers breakfast, and it's a lovely spread - cereals, breads, yogurts, meats, salmon, fruits, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc., etc., etc. - but it wasn't included in our room price and cost a bit more than we wanted to pay. The hotel's location is excellent - just a hundred yards from the promenade and beach in one direction and across the street from the shopping area in the other. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the train station, and there's parking if you've brought a car. The apartments are in a building that's semi-attached to the rest of the hotel. Some of the apartments are available through the hotel, others are owned by individuals. It's a very quiet, secure building.
