“Second cisuot”
Reviewed 13 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

A lovely visit again. Saw more of the neighbours and they were very sweet. Cottage in lovely clean condition.

We had some difficulty booking, but Emma was very helpful.

“Lovely character cottage, stylishly decorated with all mod cons, in perfect location to both view and access Dartmoor”
Reviewed 1 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Emma the owner was extremely responsive and helpful to every email and query. The welcome cream tea was a great way to start our stay after our long drive and such a kind gesture. The summer house was wonderful, we spent a lot of time chilling out there. You access it along a lovely footpath and is three small gardens down from the cottage but the area is so quiet and peaceful we rarely saw anyone else and felt as if we had the whole place to ourselves.

The cottage was decorated beautifully and had all mod cons. As the advert says, no phone signal but there is a landline and the wifi signal was better than ours at home! This is the perfect romantic getaway. Log burning fire, large master bedroom, and as already mentioned, the lovely summer house where you have views of the moor in a secluded haven. There is a lovely walk from the house and you can walk onto the moor in 20 minutes. The village doesn't have any shops but there is one in Mary Tavy which is only a 7 minute drive (cutting across the edge of the moor). The countryside silence once the birds had finally gone to sleep was wonderful, something you rarely experience in today's frantic world.

We loved our stay and would certainly return.

This place is just totally stunning! You WILL visit again! We are going back in August for a whole week we loved it so!

The approach to the cottage is beautiful with hedges full of sparrows and songbirds and greenery everywhere with the moors just stretching out in front of you. Swallows flutter past your head just inches away sometimes and there are sheep and cows grazing on the fields.

The cottage itself is quintessentially country cottage with exposed beams and floorboards and white walls. It's modern in its conveniences including a touch operated induction hob and dishwasher. It's also comfortable and cosy with memory foam mattresses and worn in sofas with throws to snuggle up in.

The garden is not where you'd expect and for a family with tiny children going to sit there of an evening whilst the children sleep may be out of your comfort zone somewhat. It's in sight of the cottage but some metres away though it doesn't disappoint. Brentor stream runs through the bottom and it's rich with plants and flowers and grasses. The summerhouse is a lovely addition and really offers shade, romance and warmth.

All in all this is a beautiful cottage for not much money at all and the owners, Emma and Patrick are as helpful and sweet as they come :)

Would recommend 100%

Thanks so much!

“Tranquil cottage set in a beautiful part of the world”
Reviewed 7 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Heather Cottage is a beautiful place with amazing views. We were unfortunate to not have spent more time at the cottage but will most certainly be visiting again for a longer stay. The cottage was very welcoming and the communication from Emma was perfect, no issues finding the location.
Thanks for an amazing couple of nights.

“Quiet, quality, clean and cosy cottage.”
Reviewed 17 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This is a holiday let of the highest standard. It has quality throughout. The owners have done a great job from the bed linen to the furniture, it is all of an excellent standard. The scones, cream and jam were a nice arrival touch too. The garden and summer house are a real bonus with great views towards Dartmoor. Lyford Gorge is amazing especially the Devil's Cauldron and must not be missed. And Dartmoor on a sunny day is a special place. The village is small and quiet but there are many good pubs a short drive away. This is how holiday cottages should be. Thank you.
