Reviewed this place 2 years ago and nothing has changed, in fact it's got worse. Still has the scruffy outside tables and broken heaters. still takes ages to get served. Expensive poor quality beer. The place seams to attract really obnoxious miserable office types who are probably reps on a cheap paid for night's digs by there employers. Tables covered in Laptops and phones. More like a call centre than a pub.

Lack of choice was a problem to our enjoyment. No Malbec or Merlot no rump steak no aubergines what we had was good but second choice. Perhaps a bit more effort with stock management might be helpful.good parking friendly staff well presented food just a lack of beverages and food

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. I appologise for the lack of wines - this has been a knock on effect from our supplier due to the recent bad snow, they were unable to receive their deliveries, which in turn made us unable to receive what we ordered. We expect to return to normal stocking levels from this week.
In the same respect the food items mentioned were also unavailable from our suppliers. Unfortunately we have no control over these 2 issues and can only appologise. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed what you did have on Mother's Day and the comments regarding the team will be passed on to them. We hope to welcome you back in the future.

As locals we tend to avoid eating here due to poor previous experiences. However we decided to book last minute for a night out with friends. We arrived 30 minutes early but our table was ready even though the restaurant was relatively busy. Service was excellent and although the food is standard chain pub food, it was really nice. My steak was a little over cooked but that's me being picky. The menu was also a bit more inventive than our last visit. They make a great gin & tonic in fishbowl glasses and have a good selection of cask ales. If they can keep up this standard of food and service we will be returning.

Arriving on Sunday night there was a notice up to say that last orders would be taken at 7.45. Luckily we had booked for 7.45 so that was not a problem. I say luckily, but really I should have said unluckily. First off we are told there are no roast dinners and no steaks. As these are the mainstay of the menu that cut the options down considerably. One of our party of 4 wanted whitebait as a starter. They didn't have any. Another member wanted fish and chips from the smaller meals menu. They didn't have any. She then settled for a larger portion. When the food arrived my meal, a supposed half rack of ribs from the smaller meals menu, was about enough to feed a child of 6, along with its small dessertspoon amount of peas and a reasonable portion of chips. The ribs tasted as if they had been hanging around for a long time being kept warm, and were overdone. When ordering dessert one person asked for cheese and biscuits. Yes, you've guessed it. They didn't have any. In despair and for the sheer hell of it, I asked for a coffee. Well what a surprise, there was not even any coffee (although, to be fair, we were offered instant, which one member took up and she was not charged for it at the end). As the staff were unfailingly polite and pleasant it would be nice to give them a star, so that is what the one star is for. Otherwise, if it was possible to do so, I would give no stars.

May i first say that our Sunday Roasts are always subject to availability and we had just received a Product Recall notice on some main menu items 15minutes before your arrival.
Had this happened earlier we would have contacted you to inform you of our limited menu choice.
I appologise if you feel the value meal mains were too small.
As for the coffee machine, it was unfortunate that it was broken during your visit however i am pleased you were offered an alternative hot drink by our team.
I am pleased our team did all they could for you considering the limited choice.
We hope you visit us again soon to sample our Main Menu.

We booked 3 nights at the Red Lion Inn just after Christmas due to the positive feedback (and to get away from the in-laws) and it was so enjoyable we wished we stayed for longer!

Our room was clean, modern and spacious enough for our toddler to wander around in. The room door is heavy though so unless you hold it in time will slam shut really loudly. Our included breakfast was really nice and the staff was really friendly and helpful especially when we have an attention seeking child on hand. We also tried the lunch menu as well which was really good value for money - probably why it gets busy at certain times.

We've stayed quite a few hotels inc. 5 star ones and for my wife to say this is the best one..well....that's saying something!!
