A very comfortable pension, with very helpful staff and the best location in Tossa.
Pros: great location, clean, charming room, lovely hosts always willing to answer any question, awesome breakfast, great value
Cons: none
The atmosphere: This is a family-run B&B. If you want central air and standardized newness, go somewhere else. But if you want a lovely, warn homelike atmosphere, right on the beach and with a knowledgeable and welcoming hostess, this is your place.
The good:
- Location, location, location.
- Very kind and helpful staff.
- Ample, homemade cakes, quiches and pies to go with a hearty continental breakfast. Even the kids had all they wanted.
- Catalunya charm.
- Good value for rooms.
- It's a nice place for tapas and sangria as well.
- Free wi-fi.
Caveats:
- This hotel is downtown, so drivers will have to park in one of the paid or free public lots, about a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
**Tip: The weekly market is on Thursdays. Great food souvenirs and people-watching. To get to Tossa's Rambla, the location of the Thursday market and many stores, just follow the river.**
A friend and I spent two night here on our recent trip to Spain. It was heaven. All the rooms have a beach view. The breakfast, which is included in the cost, was amazing. It was great homemade food and there was a nice variety.
The room was clean and the service was excellent. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Tossa de Mar.
Their Sangria is pretty tasty too!
My husband and I and our adult daughter stayed 3 nights at Hotel Cap d'Or and thoroughly enjoyed this charming hotel. The views from the rooms are magnificent! The staff were very welcoming, friendly & helpful and the rooms were comfortable with everything we needed for our short stay. The breakfast which is included in the room rate is an excellent continental selection and we found the hotel to be great value for money.
Tossa de Mar is a great little town, we're so pleased we didn't opt for Lloret de Mar which, for the Aussies reading this, is like the Gold Coast on steroids! Avoid! Tossa is picturesque, charming and relaxing, with plenty of great restaurants and tapas bars.
We particularly recommend Can Carlus - great menu selection and excellent service.
Hotel Cap d'Or is a gem - as has been noted in the previous reviews. We just wanted to add our endorsement!
This hotel is right on the beach and at the foot of the castle. The location is perfect. We had the room with balcony overlooking the beach - it was fabulous. Breakfast (included in the room charge) includes homemade cakes etc and is served outside overlooking the beach.
