Has potential, but poorly managed.

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Sept 2024
The property and location has a lot of potential, but the experience overall was a bit of a disappointment and certainly over-priced. The pool is well-designed and the setting is very unique, peaceful and remote. The rooms were relatively clean and the facilities were fine. It is a clever way to experience a rubber estate, and go slightly off-grid for a little while and enjoy the quiet and the sounds of the jungle. We did one night here on the way from KL to Malacca.

However we were a bit disappointed with our overall experience, and felt it was not worth the price-tag. The site is lacking some T&C, it feels under-managed and hasn't been looked after well - it needs a bit of an upgrade.

There were two housekeepers who were not very proactive and it felt a bit stale and some of the furniture is quite tired as a result. There are SO MANY FLIES and other bugs that it became unmanageable, and the housekeepers didn't have any fly swatters or candles, so you should bring your own. (they should invest in those electric fly fans). Even inside the air-conditioned living space the flies were everywhere and the staff kept leaving doors open so more came in, and perhaps cleaning could have been to a higher standard. The meals were a bit uninspired and so we ordered Grab instead. The French Doors in the bedrooms have big gaps in them so bugs were crawling in, and aircon flowing out - very odd. We asked for an extra bed in our room (for my father, and my two sons) and they gave us a mattress on the floor. If you are driving, be mindful it is a dirt track you need to navigate which may be difficult for some cars. There could be some games (board games) in the family room.

Room Tip: Digital fly-swatters, mosquito coil. No in-room fridge, we stored in the main 'living room'...

Love the greeneries around the stay. It’s really quiet and pretty distanced from the busy town - very suitable for a therapeutic getaway. Room & washroom were spacious and clean.

However, there were so so much of mosquitoes & insects which is pretty normal for such place. So, please bring along repellents with you during your stay. Limited options for f&b, taste wise is just okay for the food.

- Nice concept , place is in right in middle of the rubber plantation .
- It’s a new property and rooms are quite neat and clean .
- quite small resort only 16 rooms , we were 5 families so had a good time.
- Food : menu is limited , kitchen is small but whatever they have won’t disappoint you .
- Staff : staff is friendly , quite flexible
- breakfast: Set breakfast but not much options to chose from , unable to handle a group of 15 pax.
- Runber plantation tour : honestly this can be their USP is they handle it well , no one to guide you , they won’t even tell too many mosquitoes on the trail , could have been better

Overall a good weekend gateway for KL residents , however not a fancy place .

Stayed here with a group of friends for the weekend. I liked the contemporary design of the hotel and the greenery of the surroundings. Room was clean and quiet with free WiFi available within the hotel grounds.

There is a nice pool to have a cool dip in, a lounge area to hang out and play board games and fun archery. They even provide bicycles (free) which we took out and rode to the nearest town and back.

Overall, the Rubber Escape is a nice weekend getaway spot for those seeking a quiet but fun time with family or friends.
