Had a 3 night stay with my wife and Thai-in-laws.
Hotel is old and well due for renovation.
Rooms were clean but damp and musty, air con and deodorizer sorts this out after a spell.
Breakfast was adequate with enough western options to scrape by, wife and family were a lot more enthused by the oriental choices.
Service was good and staff helpful.
Location in Phuket City is good with market and department stores a short stroll.
Although rated as 4 star, due to previous reviews wasn't expecting as much so wasn't disappointed.
Availed ourselves to Executive Suite upgrades which was well worth the extra nominal cost.
Not for the discerning but value for money.

This was my second stay here and the first time I had a sea view room that they said they had upgraded me to. I was thankful but couldn't sleep all night due to the loud base from the street music. Not the hotels fault but it none the less effect my experience.

The second stay I asked for a mountain view room and they gave me one and ones again said that they had upgraded me. This room was quiet and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I wouldn't have much to complain about if it wasn't for the mold in the bathroom. What if I had been allergic or something? They can't have rooms like that open for obvious reasons.

I didn't try the pool or gym or breakfast so no input on that. The food was okay but expensive.

Pro tip: take the airport bus instead of taxi. The end station is 10 min from the hotel and costs 100 baht per person. Taxi will cost 700-850 baht.

It's such a shame to see this place in such poor condition, what's worse though, is forking out way too money to do so.
The rooms are nice enough. We had some water damage in our bathroom, big smudges on the inside of the window, a stained bath towel and the room smelt musky. This should not happen in a 4.5 star place charging well over 2000 baht.
The worst thing and saddest thing I saw in this hotel was the fourth floor. Huge patches of water damage has parts of the ceiling falling down and buckets set out to catch the water. This needs to be hidden from the public. This is the floor from where you can access the swimming pool. So it would a shame to not have access to what looked like a lovely pool area.
The positives are that the hotel has tonnes of 60's charm, terrific views from the upper reaches and you will find marble throughout. The breakfast was very tasty if you enjoy thai style breakfasts. The fish curry was something else.
It was hard not to be disappointed and the amount charged did not represent good value at all.

We stayed one night in Jan 2016. For the price and the four star rating we were expecting a lot more. When you first enter the hotel it has an impressive lobby with classic marble flooring and pillars, high ceilings and a luxury feel, but once we saw our room and saw more of the hotel, ie the entry to the pool is a long corridor with a leaking roof, peeling paint, mould and old furniture dumped everywhere, it feels really run down and in need of an upgrade. Our superior room was clean and spacious, comfortable bed, great bathroom with a city view, however it was very musty and desperately needed some ventilation. The buffet breakfast was good, lots of Thai options and limited western style breakfast. The complimentary welcome drink vouchers they gave us on arrival with the invitation to go and enjoy at the bar at our leisure turned out to be a glass of juice. Overall a nice place to stay if you want to be close to Phuket town shopping etc but definitely not worth the price.

We stayed here as a last minute thing as we were very let down by the hotel we had actually booked and checked out immediately.
OK its not exactly new and is a massive old run down hotel desperately in need of a few hundred thousand dollars spending on it, which will probably never happen, but the room we had was large and clean. The staff were polite and helpful. And - they had a cot for our baby, which believe it or not, was like finding a needle in a haystack around there.
Overall, good value for money.

Room Tip: Negotiate to upgrade to a suite for the same cost - they have plenty - its NOT a busy hotel
