Description: Our cute little station house, situated in the heart of West Bay serves only the best local and fresh produce, all created by our talented head chef Jonny Newing. We pride ourselves on our customer service and pretty, flavoursome but plentiful plates. Our menu changes weekly and has a strong selection of flavoursome dishes. We believe there is something for every palate. From locally caught seafood to locally farmed organic meats and a wide variety of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes, chef Jonny is always happy to create something to suit your requirements. Pastry chef Claire, creates a stir in the kitchen, creating some of the best desserts known to man! As Virginia Woolf once said "One can not think well, love well, sleep well, if once has not dined well" We look forward to welcoming you.

Absolutely amazing food and fantastic service. We went for a late lunch, the setting is amazing (an old converted railway carriage), we felt really welcome, the food was so good we didn’t want lunch to end. The service was so great we wanted to wait for a couple of hours and eat dinner, you won’t regret going

This is the second time that I’ve been here and the food has been excellent both times. You can eat in the main restaurant as well as outside, but the best place to eat is in the carriage. It’s brilliantly done. Sadly on this occasion the service was painfully slow and pretty disorganised. Most people had their food before their drinks and the bill took forever to come, after asking three times. I would give it another go, as I’m hoping the service issues will not be the norm.

Hi Louise

Thank you for taking the time to review us.

Apologies the service didn’t match up to the food. We were training two new seasonal staff that day. We have now done some additional training with them and they are both much more competent in the role.

Best wishes

SK

The Station Kitchen West Bay is a small, converted railway station ticket office / waiting room and converted railway carriage as diner, run by the Dorset based Sausage and Pear company. Arriving on a busy Easter Saturday weekend we were lucky enough to get a table in the eclectically decorated main building (there aren’t many spaces in this part, most diners being in the carriage). The staff were welcoming and attentive and knowledgable with regards to gluten free eating. We opted for two wonderfully fresh crab sandwiches (one gluten free), fantastic smoked kippers and two bowls of chunky homemade chips between three. With a bottle of chilled Pinot Grigio this was a hassle free quick lunch in great surroundings.
We were so pleased with our experience that we’ve booked an evening meal later on during our stay in the area.

Hi Rob
Thank you for your review
It’s a shame to only get 4 stars. As you have booked an evening meal with us, maybe you could have waited until after then to review us?
Evening dining on the carriage is different experience to having sandwiches inside the Station house.
Hopefully we can blow you away and you can amend your review afterwards :)
Best wishes
Ross

Dined here with a group two nights running. Brilliant food and such excellent service. Nothing is too much trouble, lovely dining experience varied menu. Steak recommended and the chocolate brownie dessert was to die for.
