The resort has bungalows with A/C and fan at budget prices and it's
in a quiet location around 200 meters from Bang Niang beach.
Bungalows are basic but nice, clean with a big bathroom, hot water,
TV, fridge and free WiFi. There is a restaurant open all day and you
can book trips for the islands. The Dutch owner speaks a lot of
languages, English, German, Thai. No credit cards accepted for now.
Google the resort name for info about prices and Khao Lak in general.

Hey All,

My girlfriend and I stayed at this place in April when we were in Khao Lak. It was extremely hot and the off season but we had an awesome time at this place thanks to its owner, kees (spelling is probably wrong)... We rented his sweet motor bike and cruised to these jungle waterfalls and other beaches. We ate lots of meal at the restaurant with incredible food (some of the best we had in thailand, seriously).... He helped book the rest of our trips and in general was awesome to talk to and is super smart.... I meant to write this months ago... it's nothing too crazy or fancy but we had a nice bungalow with a fan and our own bathroom for very reasonable rates and getting to talk to kees about thailand, life, etc and hear his stories of the community and its recovery from the Tsunami was super awesome. He literally brokered our travel fees for the rest of our time in thailand....... so helpful.

Great place, Kees------ The American guy who plays poker and was with his girlfriend... we were there same time as the older couple that stayed with you for a month....

We spent few days in Khao Lak and based ourselves in Amsterdam resort. We chose this place as the owner was responding to the emails promptly and was the only one out of many accommodations willing and able to organize a snorkeling trip to Ko Surin, including calling the park and reserving a bungalow there so that we did not have to stay at the tent.

The bungalows at Amsterdam resort are nice, clean, with private bathroom, there is a restaurant on the premises. The Owner, Kees, will gladly help with any bookings, be it Ko Similan, Ko Surin, Khao Lak, even organized a transport for us from Khao Lak to the islands in Trang area.

This turned out to be a good choice in otherwise uninspiring Khao Lak.

We arrived at Khaolak during a horrible downpour.
Stranded at the 7/11, with a local phone out of order, we were very happy to get help and have the owner pick us up. The proprietor goes out of his way to help you. It makes all the difference in the world.

We arrived during the off season and took a fan room for 500 baths. The setup is very smart as there is a ventilation integrated in order to help change the air in the room. The bathroom is huge with hot water. It may seem trivial to point this out but it was the hottest shower we were able to enjoy in Thailand so far, including 4 cities. Another important detail, the outlets are well placed. Once again, a trivial little thing until you have to charge up your gadgets in an outlet that is 2 meters high and located behind the door.

The atmosphere is great; the bungalows are adorable.

We stayed in one of the bigger bungalows with AC, hot water, TV, and wi-fi for 3 nights at1100 Baht per night. If you didn't mind a smaller room or no AC the prices are between 600 - 900 Baht per night. It's not a fancy place but it's a budget accommodation so if you want a fancy place, there are plenty of more expensive places to stay in Khao Lak. This place had everything we needed with a clean room and a friendly staff. It was one of the most affordable places in Khao Lak and was really easy walking distance to the beach. The hi-light was definitely the owner, Kees. He was extremely helpful in booking us round trip arrangements to/from the Surin Islands and helped us figure out the local bus system when we left Khao Lak. He also has fascinating (albeit, sad) accounts of the Tsunami in 2004 as he was there when it happened.
