This resort is amazing! The food is great. People are friendly. Very clean. Excellent entertainment each and every night. Tons of things to do during the day time also. The beach is white sand - beautiful! only issue we had was there was a ton of seaweed on the beach and the water was not good for swimming. Might have been the time of the year though. I would definitely recommend this resort to everyone and would go back again!

The only issue we had was the air-conditioning in our room leaked and had to call a service tech at 10:30 pm. other wise the staff at the from desk and all around the resort were very professional and kind. The food, and drinks were excellent, especially the martini bar. Can't wait to go back... Hopefully the water at the beach will be cleaner. Lots of silt and sea weed which prevented us from going into the water.

We have stayed at other five-star, all-inclusive hotels on the Riviera Maya, but none of them compares to the Excellence Riviera Cancun. From the amazing, friendly and efficient staff to the immaculate and beautiful grounds to the exquisite food, we cannot think of anything that needs improvement. A perfect vacation! We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Rooms along the Lazy River are quiet.

Excellence has become the premier brand in the Riviera May/Cancun. This was our fourth trip to ERC and our sixth to their properties. With and Excellence Club swim-out room, (Thanks Sara Castellanos!), amazing food, (thanks Fernando Munguia!) and stellar service everywhere,(thanks Manuel Gonzalez!) We had another spectacular time. The Club staff like Moises, Amable and Rosalba, made us feel like we had returned home.
With thirteen trips to Mexico, we have stopped searching and sampling and will only visit Excellence resorts as we are never disappointed or let down. They seem to anticipate our needs and always aim to make our stay memorable.
We will be returning home to ERC, to make new friends and revisit old ones. Thanks to the crews in the French, Italian and Mexican restaurants for going above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks to the Club Concierge Crew for doing all you do. Thanks as well to all the staff for the hard work, spotless rooms and grounds and most of all, for the friendly smiles. See you all next time!

I booked this to resort for 11 nights, to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary as it was recommended by a friend...and we weren't disappointed! In fact it exceeded all of our expectations.
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The bell boy took our luggage and handed us a cold glass of bubbly and took us to our private Excellence Club Lounge to get checked in, explaining the resort as we walked through. The first thing I noticed was how immaculately clean everything was! There wasn't even a leaf blowing around! We were taken to our upgraded Excellence Club Swim up Pool Room, which wasn't cheap but was so worth it! It was amazing! They'd even put an "anniversary" banner on the front of our door which I thought was a lovely touch. Indoor and outdoor tubs, beautiful wet room, massive king size bed which was the height of 2 mattresses, an amazing drinks cabinet and stocked fridge, which was restocked daily....
Room service and cleaning of the rooms was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. This can be said about the staff throughout from the bar tenders to the guys who swept the path ways, the service was amazing and they were all so friendly.
The food in the 10 restaurants was beautifully fresh with a great variety. We went to the Spice restaurant a few times as well as the Grill as we enjoyed the meals there but it's really personal preference. We also has a romantic meal on the beach one evening with the harpist playing, which was quite surreal! We found that couples ate out quite early so the restaurants were at their busiest between 7-8.30pm but that was fine as if a table in our preferred restaurant wasn't available, we were given a buzzer, enjoyed a drink at the bar and then waited to be called. The Martini bar was great and seemed to be where a lot of guests congregated before dinner. There is also a coffee bar called Aroma which serves proper coffee-shop- coffee and hot drinks and the most amazing pastries, which was all included.
The beach had powder white sand on it and we had an area with beautiful double sunbeds exclusively for our use. The ONLY thing that was disappointing, was that a few weeks earlier, that coast had experienced some bad storms which dredged up tonnes of seaweed! This meant that the first 20 meters of water was a horrible brown sludge colour which you couldn't swim in. Typically, it had just begun to clear as we left and the hotel did their absolute best to rid the shore of the seaweed but it was a thankless task. It was such a shame but it just means we will have to come back again!
A little tip for the ladies if going in March...bring a cardigan for the evening as some nights (& days) it was quite windy. The weather was beautiful during the day as it wasn't too hot and some days we had a bit of wispy cloud and I've come back with a great tan!
The evening entertainment was great with lots of different shows and themed evenings. No one went to bed late...it seemed to be a place where people got up early and went to bed before midnight.
Tipping is a very important practice in Mexico, so we tipped in American dollars and made sure we tipped where we could and it was always much appreciated.
The Spa was lovely and we had a treatment included in our package but it was so good I booked another one! Its not cheap though, I paid $175.00 for a massage and facial and that was reduced...its should have been $250!
I can honestly say that it was worth every penny to come to this amazing little peace of heaven and I'm already looking at dates for next year and I've only been back for 4 days!! Thank you to everyone who helped make our anniversary celebrations so special and a big thanks to Thomas Cook for letting the hotel know! It really made our holiday! :) x x x
