We stayed at the Manoire de Beaurepaire for a week, as a group of 5 adults with 2 infants. We were very happy with the accommodation, and the village was lovely and quiet.
The gîte is spacious and attractive, with lots of space for a group of our size. The gîte is fully equipped with almost every amenity you will need. In fact the only item we didn't have was a cheese grater! Other than this, we felt very well catered for.
There are a number of options for eating meals: either at the large dining table indoors, or at one of the two outdoor tables.
There are plenty of games to play, such as pool, ping pong, etc and a good selection of toys for the children.
The bedrooms are beautiful, and the beds very comfortable. There are blackout shutters in all rooms. There are 2 double rooms, one with 3 single beds, another with 2, and a further small room with 1 single bed. Additionally, there are a range of extra beds that are suitable for children, plus 2 cots, and also a double sofa bed downstairs.
One disadvantage is that there is just one upstairs toilet for all the bedrooms, and it is quite a distance from the furthest bedroom if getting up at night! There is no lock on the upstairs toilet door which led to a couple of accidental surprises!! There is one bath, and one stand up shower, which could make life difficult for groups of more than 5 or 6.
It is worth noting that the wooden stairs make a very loud and unavoidable cracking sound when walked on. We tried every which way to walk up the stairs quietly but it's not possible! This did cause the occupant of the bedroom nearest the stairs to be woken on a number of occasions. You can even hear it through ear plugs!
We appreciated the enthusiast welcome of the owner, who left us drinks and a home-made crumble (delicious!) as a welcome gesture. There was some misunderstanding regarding checking out as she had evidently wanted us to wait for her to come by before we departed, but as this was not made clear we left promptly on time, leaving the keys in the mail box.
Overall, we found the gîte to be charming and full of character, and would recommend it to groups of family and friends looking for a peaceful and relaxing French holiday.
