We dropped in here for lunch at the Beach Bar Lounge. The service was very slow and it took an age for our order to be prepared. The wait was alright though as the food was pretty good, and since the restaurant was located just near the beach we had a great view while we waited. The restaurant does a very tasty dessert of banana fritters so try it if you go there :)
You might also want to look out for the very friendly squirrels that seem quite bold. Be careful though as they are still wild animals. The crows were more of a nuisance and the staff seemed to pay no heed when they swooped in on leftovers on the unattended tables around us.

We thank you for the positive comments, and regret the delay in service.

With regard to the "crows" pleased to inform you that we have implemented a permanent solution , and we find the place to be free of crows.

Thanking You.

I stayed here during the offseason in this nice and quiet guesthouse. The beach is just a short walk away and its ratet as the 9th best beach in the world. The couple owning the guest house are very friendly and the best cooks. They have a lot of tips about the area and can help with anything!

Pleased to note that you have enjoyed your stay at '"Nilaveli". But, you seem to have got this posting on the wrong Hotel page, and the "Guestt House" you have actually stayed deserves to have this excellent comment - A Guest House we at 'Nilaveli Beach" are proud to be associated with,
Thanking You

This hotel have the best beach of Niaveli.Great simple and eco friendly resort. Lot of greenery within the hotel. When we were there hotel was fully booked but staff done excellent job to serve everyone. One night they had BBQ dinner in the garden which was excellent variety and good taste. There ala carte restaurant also serve great food by the side of pool. They need to improve the TV in rooms and Dialog TV sucks. No proper channels and soon as get cloudy nothing there.other than that excellent eco friendly hotel.

Thank you very much for the lovely feed back and for being critical on the "Dialog" signal and the TVs in the rooms.

We have attended to problems relating to poor TV signals on a cloudy / rainy day by installing a different type of "Dish Antenna" and we found to have got over this problem.
And with regard to the TV s in guest rooms- we have begun changing all of them and soon all rooms will have new TV's.

Thanking you.

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this hotel. Hotel is value for money and treats locals and foreigners as one. Both times i felt the service was of consistent standard. Upon checking into the hotel the same staff member who checked us in initially in 2014 still remembers us this time round. This shows the close attention they give to their guests.

The hotel is set on the skirts of the Indian Ocean facing Pigeon Island. The best time to visit this area is off course during the periods of April – May as the water does give the blue reflection (this was based on my previous visit). However I’m not the best person to give advice on the water, perhaps someone from the hotel can provide some input.

The hotel during peak seasons has fantastic buffet dinner meals as well as buffet breakfast meals. In saying that during the off peak periods they do have a splendid set menu’s for breakfast lunch n dinner. I have attached some pictures of the set lunch which we experienced during our stay in February as well as few shots of the night time dinner ambience.

The staff are very polite, friendly and show great level of customer service. Without a doubt this is an attribute to the hotel group. And one which will ensure guest come back to....

The only downside to the hotel would be the rooms and bathrooms could do with a small touch up as they look rather tired. A form of in room wifi could also come in handy as the area does not have the best 3g nor 4g connection in the rooms. Then again one should not be on the wifi when staying at a beach side resort. Also the hotel should really do a combined effort with its neighbouring hotel Anilana to ensure the road which leads to both hotels is not pot hole driven but rather a pleasant drive.

We stayed 2 nights but wished we could have stayed longer.
Located right on the breathtaking Nilaveli beach, this hotel has that old charm & a rustic touch about it.

The standard sea view room we stayed in was very good, clean, comfy & had all the amenities we needed like an efficient AC, cable TV, hot water, mini fridge, Tea/coffee tray & phone. House keeping too was excellent.

We were impressed at how attentive the restaurant staff were to a lactose allergy which we mentioned at time of check in. Many hotel would tell you what dishes to avoid, but here they had made special salads & grills for us.Thanks to the good lady at reception for a job well done, in spite of the hotel being full.

We were on half board basis as it's more economical & also as we went sight seeing during the day. The food is of a high standard & we were blown away by the local prawn curry!

There are many things to see & do around Nilaveli, we even saw a peacock while driving down the side road to the hotel.

Getting there from Colombo via Puttlam & Anuradhapura takes around 6 hours & the roads are excellent.

Overall this is a very good hotel and we would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Kudos to the management of NBH.

Room Tip: We had a sea view facing standard room which was very good but the deluxe room on the top floor should have a better view.
