We loved our stay in this house. It is in a wonderful setting in the foothills of the mountains, with lovely walks and breathtaking views of the Pyrenees to the south and, on the road to Palaja, a glimpse of the beautiful Carcassonne. Our two children loved and lived in the pool, delighted in feeding the hens and helped with watering the plants as we enjoyed fantastic weather. Montsegur (a strenuous and risky climb) is also well worth a visit , as are Saint-Hilaire, the nearest village, Mirepoix, Quillan, and many others. Then you also have the Canal du Midi and a reasonable drive to Narbonne. It really is a great base for expeditions to heritage sites, fabulous landscapes and beaches. The house is comfortable and well equipped, and our week there went by much too quickly. The owners are also very helpful and informative. We very much hope to visit again one day.
Nice villa but the main attraction for us was the pool but on our arrival, was found to be covered up and half empty. Owners said this was because the weather hadn't been good enough to warrant filling it but the temperature reached 27 degrees wihle we were there. They didn't notify us until the day before we were due to fly there. When we complained we were given a £50 discount but then the owners accused us of breaking a drawer and door handle ???? What the advert doesn't state is that this is their main home with all the normal wear and tear and filled with their personal items. Wifi and internet access was advertised but not available, telephone advertised but found not to be working. Would not recommend at all.
