My wife and I were keen to have a quiet weekend exploring part of the beautiful Barrington Tops area of NSW. We chose the Salisbury Lodge because it advertised itself as a Retreat. The promotional photos looked inviting and we decided to visit!
We felt misled that the Lake Lodge Studio we booked (and paid more for ) with the promise of a private room overlooking the small lake on the property did not eventuate. We were given a clean basic room with a verandah overlooking the car park and uncomfortably close to the room and its guests next door ! I asked the Manager if there were other more private rooms available and was told bluntly and only "no" despite no other guests staying at the venue and clearly other rooms available. We spent the weekend listening to our neighbours conversation feeling uncomfortable and disappointed.
The place is naturally beautiful with many options for bushwalking! It is a long drive to town but a pleasant one! It is a pity we couldn't have stayed in a decent room as it would have made a big difference! It's just basic hospitality!More
