We drove past the pub on out way to Ilfracombe one day whilst staying in the area. Thought it looked like a nice pub, so called up and booked a table.
On arrival there were no parking spaces in the car park so we followed a fellow arrivee and parked across the road, not ideal if we're honest.
We went inside and we're shown to our table, it was a squashed table in the corner, but it was a table so we can't really complain about that!
Our waitress arrived promptly to take our drinks order, all was going well. Ordered our food, which arrived quickly as well and was delicious..
The table was eventually cleared and dessert menus offered. Then the hard work was undone as we waited, and waited for our dessert order to be taken. Various staff walked past us and even appeared to look over, but maybe being sat in the corner we were overlooked. Finally a waitress appeared, at the point we were considering getting the bill as we'd had enough. The desserts were lovely, good portion, can't fault them.
But then we had to wait and wait for someone to bring the bill and then take the payment.
What could have been a lovely evening was just marred by the lack of service.. The food was fab, we'd be back for that, but please train your staff up to be more attentive to their customers. On a few occasions my hubby spotted our waitress chatting at the bar, while we were waiting!!! Yes it was Good Friday evening and yes the place was busy, but that's not really an excuse.. The staff should be able to cope!
