We first stayed at the hotel (now “resort”) two years ago with a grandchild and we were not particularly enthusiastic about it – it resembled to a hardly acceptable degree a “socialist trade union recreation resort” of the past!
Nevertheless, the surroundings are so beautiful that we after all decided to return the next summer with two of our grandchildren. To our immense and most pleasant surprise, the hotel was an absolutely different place to stay at. The nicest imaginable staff that did not hesitate to try and meet even the most whimsical wishes of their clients – I should say “guests” because we really felt like their most welcome guests there!
No wonder that our choice for the summer of 2015 was the “Orea Resort Devět Skal” again, , this time with all of our three grandchildren. And again we experienced a surprise – this time quite a contrary one.
The “resort” seems to be so heavily understaffed that the remaining personnel simple cannot cope even with the routine requests of their clients. Queuing for your room key for 5-10 minutes was no exception because a single receptionist had to deal with those who approached her before you.
The same applies to waiters and waitresses taking orders for drinks (quite expensive, in fact) because they simply were unable to serve the dining room full of people within a reasonable space of time. Moreover, cleaning in the dining room was quite poor, too. Tiny potato pieces that our 2-year-old granddaughter spilled under her seat during a dinner remained their even the next day morning. (She commented on seeing them: “I am not going to have to eat then, am I?”) A stain from some sort of cottage cheese that a diner obviously dropped on the dining room carpeted floor was still visible for the next three days.
And just in order to make the picture complete – although I would not otherwise complain about it – the two elevators must have been built there ages ago, maybe, even before the hotel itself was erected.
And although we were in our opinion entitled to two free hours of the mini-golf game because we actually had purchased two three-day packages, the receptionist whom we asked for it only allowed us to have one hour.

Last but not least (a trifle issue at the end) – our grand children, some of whom were accompanying us on all of the three stays, were slightly disappointed that they were no longer presented with small pillows adorned with pictures of animals that the hotel used to distribute on departure in the previous two years.
To conclude: since the area really IS so extremely beautiful and pleasant to stay in, I cannot exclude that we may return again. But we shall hardly have any excessive expectations to influence our decision.
