It's a very beautiful pousada in a wonderful island. Everything I read before going is true. What makes it absolutely special is the perfect care and great taste of the owners. It's evident in every single detail. I loved my room, very spacious with a beautiful confortable bed, a fridge, flowers and and two hammocks outside. It was a pleasure going to have breakfast in the morning with tasty cakes, tropical fruits and as much coffe as I liked. The stuff is nice and I felt very confortable. Furthermore it's in a perfect location at the and of the town, in front of the beach on the way to the most beautiful beaches of island so everything is near. I appreciated the vegetarian restaurant a lot, unfortunately is opened only at lunch time but it's worth going. Out of the crowd, in to the nature, It's a very welcoming place. I miss it a lot and wish to go back.

This is the second time we stayed at Horizonte Azul, the last being about three years ago. We normally don’t go back to places we enjoyed very much because it seems that the second time around the experience usually doesn’t live up to our memories. We are glad we broke the rule in this case because our second time was even better than the first.

The location is nothing short of perfect, close to the town and beach, yet away from the crowds. This inn has a common layout for this type of lodging, with bungalows distributed about the property. But in the case of Horizonte Azul, the property is very charming, with many trees, ornamental plants, and hummingbirds hovering around. The layout also ensures privacy and quiet.

The rooms are large and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed some touches, such as the mosquito net over the bed, the outstanding quality of the mattress, pillows and bedding, efficient air-conditioner, and a full-sized, decent soap bar, not those miniature things. The rooms have no hair dryer or TV, and, to be honest, we did not miss them. The wifi is free and very good.

Breakfast is not buffet, but brought to your table. Yet it is incredibly generous and well prepared. It included fruit, breads, cakes, juice, coffee, tea or milk, and local specialties. One day, my wife commented that she enjoyed some particular breakfast dish. The next morning, sure enough, the cook had prepared it. It’s things like that.

We can’t wait to go back again.

I stayed here a week. A special place! Rooms are spread inside a tropical forest like nature. Quiet. Birds are singing. 2 minutes walk from the beach. And the breakfast!!!! So amazing and so big! If you eat all of it - no need for lunch :) Homemade delicious pastries are included.
Rooms specially and interestingly designed! The room has a balcony with a hammock.
I stayed in a non AC room. Because the room is surrounded by trees and plants, not so much light enters. It was rather dark. I switched on lights during day time too. The fan in the ceiling was rather weak and hardly felt. The mini fridge made rather loud noise during the quiet night so I simply unplugged it for the night. But all that was fine with me.

Would love to be back!

Room Tip: Wifi worked on the balcony but not so much in the room

Really relaxing rooms set in a great garden, hammocks and hummingbirds aplenty and a great and varied breakfast. The owners and staff all went out of their way to make the place a fantastic place to unwind for a few days, close to the main beach and paths to others on the island. Highly recommended.

As a vegan, I was excited to discover this place on Boipeba. We did not stay at the pousada but arranged to have breakfast there when our host was out of town. The owners really care about the food and presentation. They made sure to accommodate my diet every morning, with varied savory and sweet items. Always fresh juice and fruit, very high quality tea, and veggie versions of things I can't always try, like tapioca and other local dishes. We also had lunch there one day, with yummy seitan and vegetables (hard to find in Boipeba).

Although we did not stay at the pousada, Massimo essentially became our concierge, helping us arrange for ferry, taxi, luggage assistance, and offering other travel advice. Super gracious and friendly!
