The accomadation is very basic but the prices are horrendous for what you get.
The Room and Bathroom was dirty with marks all over the walls.
The ventilation in the bathroom was broken and flush was also on its last legs.
It also still has a carpeted Bathroom which in these times is a big no no.
First night there was no Towels luckily we had our own.
The Tea and Coffee along with the Kettle wasnt on display and was found in the wardrobe.
The stairs to the rooms smelled of Urine and the corridor were the rooms were smelled damp.

Part of a party of 6 we booked 3 rooms for a one night stay. The welcome to the hotel was warm and friendly, the rooms are very basic the bedding and towels were clean. We had a really nice lunch on arrival and a fab evening meal very tasty hot and a big portion. The owners of the hotel were very nice we had a fab night and will return.

This is a LONG review but well worth a read for anyone even considering staying here...

Upon arrival the hotel we struggle to get parked in the small car park, however eventually get a space. We then make our way into the 'hotel' section of the building to be faced with a sign asking guests to check-in within the bar area. This would not be an issue however the patrons within the bar (regular locals I assume) were not overly welcoming and quite frankly made myself and the others in my party feel uncomfortable. We were eventually greeted by the barman in between serving customers, he wasn't unfriendly but the service could have been better. We pay for our rooms and get pointed in the general direction we needed to head. One of our party had Room 1 so he unlocks the door, walks in and finds a man in the bed!!! Back down to 'reception' (bar!!) to be told 'actually you are room 1A - only the key hasn't been updated to show that' (helpful - not). So now we go searching for room 1A (still baffled as to why the key to 1A unlocked room 1 I would like to add) only to find no trace of a room numbered 1A!!! Frustrated we head back down to be told room 1A isn't actually labelled and it's a blank door - eventually staff come up and point us in the right direction of the correct blank door (there were a good few due to cupboards etc).

We eventually get into 1A (door appears to have been forced at some point meantime you have to lift the whole door in order to unlock it) and are faced with a small, dated room that smelt horrible (stale smoke, mould?? Something similar) , had dirty bed sheets, toilet bowl that had not been cleaned and 'spit marks' in the hand basin which appeared to be from a previous guest brushing their teeth! Collectively the other rooms were not much better! Extremely creaky beds, floorboards, a shower with very little power, dead insects... The list goes on!
We get 'settled in' (if you can even call it that) and myself and my partner start pondering over the fact that the same key that opened 1A, opened 1. Knowing at this point rooms 1A and 6 were empty (the other rooms we booked for the rest of our party) we took our key (room 2) and attempted to use it to get into each of the aforementioned rooms - and succeeded!!!!
Clearly now worried that someone else may gain entry to these unoccupied rooms, we collect all our friends belongings and store them in our room that was occupied! I would like to add that the purpose of our visit was to attend a race meet at nearby Knockhill Racing Circuit, meaning we had a LOT of very valuable items in our possession.
Being in a small town we were limited where to eat - so we decide to head downstairs to the restaurant (main valuables in tow in a hold all) to find the restaurant doesn't actually get used and the only place to eat is within the bar (with all those drunk, oh so welcoming locals - great!). We eventually find a table that is free out of the choice of about
8! We get the menu which was not extensive but consisted of your usual bar snacks and means (curry, steak pie, fish, paninis etc). The food arrived and although it was generous portion sizes for a reasonable price
(Approximately £8 for a main course) the food was tasteless with rubbery chicken! I was extremely disappointed but by 8pm after a busy day and a long drive - food was food! We were told the bar closed at midnight which seemed great - we had an early rise and didn't want to be kept awake by loud music - however that is exactly what happened! The bar did not close at 12 as the music was still bellowing through our room at 2am! I know ideal room temperatures vary from person to person, but for someone who is constantly feeling cold, I found the rooms to be extremely warm. This meant the only option was to open the window but then we were faced with the passing traffic and the noise from the drunks on the street.
Morning couldn't come quick enough and we left as soon as we could. There was nobody at reception and no indication on where to leave the room keys (payment was received on arrival - obviously!!) so we dumped the keys and left.
I am generally an easy pleased person and rarely have complaints about hotels but I would urge anyone to avoid this hotel at all costs! The price they charge is not worth the service provided between the dirty rooms and the fear of someone else gaining access to your own room!

I've just had my wedding catered for by Liz and the rest of the staff at the maltings. All I can say is from our first meeting through to the morning after nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent the rooms were excellent extreme value for money and nothing was ever too much trouble. Although I will say I think Liz put her own magical touches to make sure the day and night all went witout a hitch. the breakfasts could not have been any better and the staff were friendly polite and helpful. I would go back in a heartbeat and recommend this place for anyone's wedding or night stay
