I booked this hotel directly with the hotel by telephone for a Sunday night. The next day when I received confirmation of my booking by email I saw that it said there was no cooked breakfast with Sunday bookings. I was unsure whether this related to Sunday or Monday mornings so I phoned the hotel again to check. I then found that it did mean on Monday mornings. I spoke with someone called Pippa who seemed friendly and helpful who told me that this was due to the chef needing a day off. This did seem to me to be quite rididiculous for a four star hotel especially as we were paying £165. Why on earth can't they employ someone else as obviously everyone needs time off including my partner and I. As a result I cancelled the booking as I found somewhere else that offers full breakfast at a much lower price.

Strangely this is my second attempt at writing this review. My first was taken down though goodness knows why. Shame on the hotel. It's very penny pinching in my opinion and as a result they have lost custom

We stayed overnight at this hotel after attending a wedding locally and couldn’t have chosen better! Our room was lovely - clean and comfortable, breakfast was delicious and the staff were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. A special thanks goes to Pip for helping us out in our time of need!

Having been to this area in the past I was pleasantly surprised to eat here and very impressed. There is a nice bar with great cocktails and a few local beers on tap. The food preparation was great. Each dish carefully plated and well thought out. Flavors were paired well with each item on the plate. The food looked like art and portions are on the smaller side. They have everything from pork, fish, beef and duck on the menu. The prices were very reasonable and the staff was fantastic. This is a great find!!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was quite comfortable although a bit noisy at times. Generally speaking the hotel staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient, but there were some problems with the breakfast service. We do not like having to order our breakfast in advance at a set time. Who knows what time they want to get up on holiday! It didn't work very well either, certainly on one of the days. We ordered fruit and a cooked breakfast. The fruit didn't arrive, but the cooked breakfast did. Then we noticed our fruit plates sitting on a counter in the kitchen. It was too late by then. I was disappointed at the lack of choice for a cooked breakfast. If you have to order in advance I can't see why more options aren't available. What about eggs Benedict, smoked salmon, something with avocado! Many other small hotels manage without advance ordering. Sorry about the tirade, everything else was great. We had a small lunch in the bar one day - a charcuterie plate and some drinks - which we really enjoyed. We also had Sunday lunch in the restaurant with a group of friends which was also great. The food and service were very good and we would definitely go there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

I had afternoon tea here . I was not a fan of any of it apart from the scones . The sandwiches and small pastries we unrecognizable .It would have been nicer if they hadn't tried to go too posh. If your going to go here just have a cream tea , that would be worth the money
