This place has something for everyone. Nice places for eating, relaxing. Wine tasting and great place for nice walks and picnics. Wish I had more time to go in the lovely boutique shops!!!

Amazing wine country, many different options in wineries. Hire a car and do it your self, or take friends in a bus. Many accommodation options.

Many many vineyards offering free wine tasting. There's cheese, chocolate and jam factories within the estate too. Kangaroos can be spotted in the grassland. And one was "waiting" for us in the centre of the road when we drove uphill and hopped away gracefully as we approached it. What a sight!

We took a hire car from Newcastle to the Hunter Valley. Visiting the wineries was great fun and at each one, we found the staff to be very welcoming and knowledgable. Most wineries offer free delivery, which is convenient for interstate travellers. As there are too many wineries for one weekend, we will have to go back. There is much more to do and see apart from the vineyards! I anticipate multiple trips for us!

One piece of advice when visiting is to book for lunch. As first time visitors, we didn't have an itinerary or lunch bookings and we tried 3 restaurants for Saturday lunch and could not get a table. There were lots of inviting choices, so next time, we will make reservations. We eventually bought lunch from the deli side at Two Fat Blokes. Delicious! Great service and good coffee.

Looking forward to a return visit.

Take the tourist road from Sydney and meander through quiet country side. Small historic villages along the way and wine tasting. It gets quite developed as you travel east after Broke.

Tinkle wood was a special visit with wandering chickens and nice wine. Very organic style.
