Complimentry Upgrade to Heritage suite on arrival was most impressive. Enormous room, very comfy bed and sizable bathroom. Breakfast buffet had great variety and staff always pleasant. Travelled solo so will definatley be back with partner.

The Westin Sydney is a delight. Staff are a cut above most other places. The breakfast buffet is extensive. Beds are comfy. Great bathroom.

No free wireless Internet and an outdated tv are my only criticisms. In this day and age, complimentary wireless internet should be a given in a hotel of this calibre.

Stayed at the Westin Sydney for one night in an executive club room (2903) in the tower, overlooking the city with glimpses of the harbour. Booking on line with the hotel was seamless as was the check-in and express check-out (received the account the night before with instructions to leave the key in the check-out box in the foyer). The foyer doesn't have the usual look and feel of a luxury hotel as the space was also used for casual business meetings and thoroughfare for locals. It felt more like a subdued shopping mall. However this did not detract from the overall benefits of the location and as others have mentioned it is a business hotel.

The room was spacious with very a comfortable bed, linen and pillows, although the room did lack the wow factor for the price paid. It was ultra quiet being on the 29th floor, so that was a bonus. The bathroom was also spacious and clean with separate bath and shower. Loved the rain shower, but it also had the standard shower head facility for those who are in need of a strong shot of water on their shoulders and back.

Enjoyed a relaxing and simple breakfast of scrambled eggs and coffee in the club lounge on the 28th floor. Other breakfast options included mushrooms, baked beans, bacon, assortment of pastries, fruit, cheese and bread. The lounge was small and but worth the extra money to have access to the private space where the staff were friendly, efficient and responsive to maintaining the cleanliness of the lounge and attending to guest's requests.

The location was perfect, very central and in walking distance to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Circular Quay, Opera House, the Rocks, shopping mall and train/bus station or a very cheap taxi fare under $10 to these locations if your feet were tired. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Higher floor (room 2903) was quiet and had access to the club lounge.

Stayed three nights. Location is fantastic, you are within walking distance of Circular Quay, George Street and the shopping areas and Westfield shopping malls. Hotel is modern and has an interesting mix of both modern and old, the latter being a refurbished postoffice building.

Wifi was free in the lobby and on level 6. Once in your room you are asked to key in the room number to access wifi which was chargeable. Tip: access free wifi in the lobby, this gives you 2 hours of free wifi, then bring your device back to the room, and the free wifi continues to work! This worked really well for us at the new block, so I can't vouch for it if you stay in the old block. THe other issue which bugged me was how slow they were in cleaning the room. On two occasions when I got back between 3-4 pm the housekeeping staff were still unfinished!

Room service and the buffet breakfast (at $42!!) were exorbitant and we chose to eat outside where there is a wealth of interesting cafes, food courts and restaurants to choose from.

Gym was large but I didn't like it as it was actually a health club open to paying members from the public which just happened to be housed on level 4 of the old block. This meant that you didn't get the feel that the gym was exclusively for the hotel guests but was instead full of hardcore grunting and sweaty bodybuilder types!

Room Tip: New block is quieter

Stayed no less than 10 times over the past few years. 90% business. And it IS a business hotel. Try to get a tower room. Bed very comfortable, good linen. Excellent rain shower. Blows you away. Bathroom design nice. Service ok. Not warm, but corporate. Check in and out efficient but often overwhelmed by guests. Concierge unchanged for a few years, reasonable pulling power but still can't get top tier restaurant at the drop of a hat. Another one of those annoying hotel charging a million dollars for wireless internet. For business, location, I'd go for it. Not a special hotel. Always passable but never surprises. (some rooms are just plain run down, always request exchange - there are better ones!) Try Four Seasons or Shangri-la if you want service.
