A sunday buffet luncheon at Mosaic Restaurant, costing $78.00, which ends at 2.30p.m.......ridiculous for a hotel which badges itself as one of the best in Sydney!!! When I mentioned the early closing hour to the staff they told me it was a licensing issue!!! People were happily drinking and enjoying high tea in the downstairs bar, so I have to give a negative review.
The setting is superb.....colonnaded stone walls of the old post office, steel and glass roof, magnificent clock tower, right in Martin Place the centre of Sydney....this hotel should be alive with patrons, but the large space was sadly empty.
The floor staff were relatively off-hand but the food was appealingly presented....smoked salmon, oysters, a delicious salad selection, five hot dishes, wonderful desserts and ice cream.....so no black marks to the kitchen staff.
I was not seeking accommodation, so cannot comment on the rooms.More
