Have been here many many times and keep coming back. Had the BBQ duck and sizzling lamb tonight and both were brilliant. Very relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Sydney.

We picked this restaurant at random from a number in Chinatown, offering Yum Cha. The food was tasty, and the service was good. Everybody around us seemed to be enjoying theirs as well.

We chose the New Tai Yuen as it seemed to be the only restaurant offering a set menu on the Saturday night we visited. BUT we'll be back!

We found the service good and wine was reasonably priced - but note you CAN BYO if you wish.

The set menu was $18 pp and included a starter, main and rice per person. We had Szechuan chicken, beef and black bean, satay chicken and beef with cashew nuts. We enjoyed them all and there was no trouble getting a second serve if rice (unlike the Nine Dragons who have become stingy over the years).

More than enough food. We were happy with our choice and will return.

We ate here while we waited for a show to start at Darling Harbour. The service was friendly and fast but the food was nothing to write home about. Thank goodness we ordered the large fried rice even though there was only 2 of us. The braised chicken and cashews was tasteless. It could have been anything. We have been here twice before and the food was nice. We will try somewhere else next time.

If you want a cheap, average meal then this is the place! Food was fine & staff were friendly enough. Would recommend for a cheap meal out.
