Description: Nestled in the revamped sandstone building of Victoria Arcade is The Pearl, a little Parisenne Salon. Interior reminiscent of the little bistro down a hidden laneway in Paris- complete with dramatic feature walls dotted with vintage mirrors, a tiled bar and decadent pendant lamps. The cusine is modern Australian with a french influence and offers Lunch Friday, Dinner Tuesday to Saturday and All day Brunch on Saturday. With a well stocked bar of top shelf spirits Pearl has garnered the reputation of having the best cocktails in town, and if dinner is on your mind then the Prix Fixe menu with matched wines is a must try. Bookings are essential as this tiny little salon fills up fast. Dryseason a table in the courtyard is a must.

Meals are good, cosy setting but a bit dark, not a big selection of food and price is reasonable, would go back again

We are experienced diners, and have no hesitation in recommending the Pearl.
The food was really well cooked and in keeping with its menu description, and was a delight.
The wine list is not extensive but the wines on it are of a high standard.
No misgivings about recommending this restaurant..

Very disappointed as I had read a lot of promising reviews. The wine we ordered wasn’t available then the entree we ordered wasn’t available. We then ordered the olive and ciabatta- which was cold olives and a bit of bread. The pork belly was rubbery and I’m pretty sure I only ate the fat and no pork. We ordered the fromage to come out with the olives, came with our mains.

As we were finishing our dinner and there was another couple still eating as well they started to close the front doors- hinting to leave, basically kicking us out.

Would definitely not return or recommend!!

We celebrate our wedding anniversary by going out for a nice meal. This was our 22nd anniversary and I can’t recall a worse meal than what we had for this anniversary.

As we are visiting Darwin we put a bit of effort into trying to find somewhere nice - we didn’t do a very good job. Unlike the eateries at Cullen Bay, this place has no views and is located within a Mall. The cutlery, glasses and other fixtures are pretty basic.

The menu is divided into small and large plates. Our small plate entrees included panko crumbed mushrooms and a terrine. The trees were ok, my wife quite enjoyed the mushrooms, probably the best dish we had on the night.

Our mains were Pot au Feu and “Crispy skin” pork belly. The descriptions for these dishes were very enticing - the execution was dreadful. The Pot au Feu is said to have inspired the Vietnamese Pho. The dish should have been about the stock - ours was cloudy thickened by corn starch which had not been cooked out properly and was very bland. Two dry pieces of chicken breast and a tiny amount of vegetables completed this disappointing dish. The Pork Belly was worse. The highlight should have been the crispy skin (as described in the menu). Our skin was blackened, flexible and inedible. We complained to our waitress, she undertook tp tell the kitchen but we heard nothing more. On leaving this was eventually removed from the bill. A gesture we appreciated.

We started with a cocktail ($18) which was pleasant and later a bottle of French rose that cost around $60. A good selection of wine but all with a fairly solid mark up.

On leaving we were asked if we had booked - not sure why we were asked this, but we had, well in advance.

We have read good reviews of this restaurant, am at a loss to equate these reviews with what we were served.
