My friend and I booked one Saturday night at this YHA to attend a concert at the cultural centre. We were very impressed by the helpful and friendly staff. The place is especially quiet compared to the other backpacker hostels in the area.
The plentiful and spacious shared areas were noticeably clean and breezy.
Within walking distance to South Bank and cultural buildings, Queen Street Mall, Roma Street station, Roma parklands, we found this location quite satisfactory.
My friend and I booked a private twin room with our own bathroom and toilet, towels and linen. We had a perfect city and river view from our third floor window. The Roma Street trains can be noisy but that comes with the territory.
We booked secure parking for the one night we stayed. It's a bit tricky to find being around the back of the building, but just listen carefully to the directions and you'll find it easy enough.
There was practically no shade around the swimming pool. Considering the high incidence of skin damage from the Australian sun, I think shaded areas are paramount.
Overall, we were quite happy with the Brisbane YHA and plan to return again.More
