Food & service were both exemplary. Recommend you book as popular due to the quality. Not cheap but we were enjoying a weekend in Brisbane - yes we'd go back :-)

We were bought a voucher for a joint birthday present to dine at Bella Cosi for $150.

First impressions were very good. A nice atmosphere, good decor, perfectly lit environment ( not too bright but romantic) and clean.
The staff were friendly and we had good food suggestions given to us by the waitress ,so we didn’t eat too much bread initially. Great.

We ordered red wine which was excellent quality @$45 a bottle, but it was a special occasion.
The menus were already on the table , we chose quickly and so our starter came after about 15 minutes. We were really enjoying being there.
It was a very hot day and very warm evening, so the restaurant had on the air conditioning and some fans.

However we couldn’t feel any cold air around us , even though I was sat right near to the air vent,so that made us get hotter and a bit more uncomfortable. Also the place was almost full to capacity so there were more hot people around and we were drinking red wine and eating hot food.
The waitress came to us straight away with a cold jug of water and commented about the heat in the restaurant , that the aircon was on at 18 degrees, indicating that they knew something wasn’t quite right?

Might I suggest that the air conditioning system be serviced or improved to avoid more discomfort in the future? It wasn’t anyone’s fault but needs attention I feel.

We curiously asked if there was any music playing ( there was, but we couldn’t hear any ), no drama here but it would make the experience a little better we felt.
Sadly, our biggest gripe was waiting over 1 hour for the main course, nothing unusual from the menu, but we could tell the kitchen was probably under staffed and overworked. The table next to us , (who came in around 1/2 hour after us) ,seemed to complain to the waiter and we could hear him apologise for the delay.
In fact that couple were fed and left 1/2 hr or so before us, so we felt we were very patient and we didn’t complain , but this review is our honest first impressions.

The food was good , tasty, ok, but not wow, sorry.
We finished our main course and the plates were taken away quick enough. The waitress, although not over friendly but polite, asked if we would like the desert menu.... yes please, we said! However 10 minutes later we were still waiting and so asked another waiter if we could have the desert menu as the overworked waitress had forgotten about us.
The menus were then delivered quickly from less than 3 metres away!!

We were going to tip the waitress but felt the service wasn’t quite good enough, sorry. We understand it is a busy place, nice food etc.... but for the price we paid, we felt the restaurant should have more staff on a busy Saturday night. A few tricks were definitely missed on this occasion.

Hopefully this review will address some of the things in question?

Overall 6/10.

Will we go back ?
Maybe.

Fantastic food, great service and casual but classy setting. It's about time the Northside got a decent Italian restaurant.

We booked in advance and were reassured could get a table to allow privacy for breastfeeding. Arrived and were allocated a table then female manager came over, wanting to move us and said we couldn’t have the table. We booked for dinner at 5:30pm and the restaurant was empty and the manager said it was “fully booked”. We just left and went somewhere else. Total disgrace of a place! Archaic standpoints on young families with breasfeeding mums.

So you are beyond a joke. You’ve posted on Google, Zomato and now here on TripAdvisor. You are so upset that you feel you need to tell everyone. Add to that that all your reviews on ALL forums are negative!

You can’t compliment when the job is done right yet you’re happy to be a “keyboard warrior” and vent via the anonymity of your keyboard.

If anyone wants to know what really happened with this review then have a read below and get the real facts. It’s sad that people feel so empowered by social media.

Except that some people are just ANTISOCIAL and shouldn’t be given the right to air their views. Especially when they are NOT telling the truth.

So much so that a management phone call from me to this reviewer was not returned. I was initially concerned we had genuinely done something wrong. Boy was I mistaken!!!!

Here’s what really happened.........

1. Your partner, Layla, booked and requested a table in “a quiet corner” by voicemail. No mention of breastfeeding. I have listened to her voicemail and am happy to share it with you. We did not speak with you prior to your arrival. At no point did we reassure anyone of anything to do with breastfeeding

2. Our restaurant is open plan and we attempted to assist by changing your table. Some of our tables are booked so they are not available. Even if they’re empty at the beginning of the night. There was confusion on where YOU would be comfortable. We do not have “private tables” and many customers have managed to breastfeed comfortably in the past.

3. Our manager stated clearly that we are happy for your partner to breastfeed. AT NO POINT did we object to her breastfeeding.
As a family restaurant it occurs quite often. She also told you that we could not guarantee the tables around you would remain empty as some of them were booked. Not that we were fully booked. She was trying to assist you.

Your comments are defamatory, ill-considered and lies.

I would ask for an apology as my staff are quite upset but doubt your “archaic” attitude would consider IT.

Since moving to Chermside, we've dined at Bella Cosi quite a few times now (whenever we have something to celebrate).

The food is delicious - The Duck Lasagne and the Veal Scallopine have probably been our favourites. Good wine selection & also plenty of delicious options for the gluten intolerant.

Whilst it isn't overly cheap, it's certainly not expensive for a nice meal out.

Enjoy having a nice reliable local restaurant.
