Jim is unfriendly and disrespectful, and he seems don't wanna people to keep fish, cause he never ask anyone wanna keep fish, he just release all day.
We booked a full day fishing trip with gone fishing on 7/8/2017, and Jim confirmed that for us. 8 people on board that day, fished half day passed, Jim ferried us back to marina, then i asked him about afternoon. After all people left, he answered me that "this afternoon is only you 2, so i can't take a trip for only 2, i will refund the different amount to you." WTF, That was ridiculous, if i know that before, i will choose another charter. We were total disappointed about his manner and personality !

So the fish weren't 'on' in the estuary when I visited at end of June 2017, 7 people on board and two nanygai were caught, one of which was undersized and returned to the deep. The boat was clean, the tour guide knowledgeable, professional and helpful. I've done these types of fishing expeditions before and I've decided I have one complaint. The accepted practice is that the first part of the trip involves the tour guide netting tiddlers for live bait, about 45 minutes. That's time I'd have rather spent fishing, they all seem to do it so maybe they have a good reason to do it that way.

Jim is one of the surliest man i have ever met - he treated us like we were at a war camp - he used his best bait for his wannabes - he had the personality of a wet sock, seriously if you don't like doing your job get another - its 4 hours of my life i will never get back.... there are truly some really good fishermen at cairns unfortunately him isn t one of them

We were a party of 9 Adults and booked a half day charter with Gone fishing Cairns for the 17th March. From the moment we boarded the charter Daniel made us feel relaxed and excited for what we may catch. First we watched Daniel catch live bait and his netting skills ensured ample live bait for the afternoon. We stopped at 4 different locations and each one gave our rods a workout although some were just undersized to keep. One of us even caught a Barramundi but unfortunately it wasn't legal size. At the end of the day we had 4 good size fish inc a Grunter, Trevally, Mangrove Jack and Fingermark. We wanted to eat our catch for dinner and Daniel suggested a local restaurant right in front of the pier (North Bar and Kitchen). The fish was prepared in 4 different ways and for approx $30pp we had a feast which included side dishes such as veges, chips and salads. From my initial contact with Jim the owner through to our charter Gone Fishing delivered a class A service. Daniel was professional but so much fun. He pointed out massive Sea Eagles. Thank you Gone Fishing for helping make our first day in Cairns so memorable.
