The room was clean and very spacious. The kitchen amenities allowed us to get food from the market and stay in for breakfast on a few mornings. Fred and Antonia were a pleasure to deal with. They were always willing to go above and beyond to make our stay great. They took care of our bookings for scuba diving as well as the return airport transfer. The location allowed us to walk to all of the downtown port douglas restaurants and also was right next to the beach. We would definitely stay here again!

Cannot say enough about how great staying at the Martinique was for us. Fred and Antonia were the most warm, welcoming and accommodating hosts we have dealt with. All we had to do was relax and show up at the activities we chose, they made all the arrangements. Their advise was right on, the location superb, the accommodations themselves were perfect. It was a quiet, relaxing retreat. We hope we make it back there one day. Would not want to stay anywhere else. We left feeling like family.

Good things:
Martinique is wonderful - clean, quiet, very stylish, beautiful and a bit unusual. Location is simply perfect - 2 minutes from the beach, and I should mention that the 4 Mile beach is also perfect.
We were very pleased with the kitchen equipment. And in general the room equipment are of good quality - tables, chairs, bed etc. And the rooms are large. A lot of beautiful flowers around the hotel, fountains etc.
It can be seen that hotel keepers take care of the guests every day. Each guest receives individual attention at the highest level.
Bad things:
The Internet (room wi-fi) connection was very cheap, but at the same time it was of bad quality - maybe because of the weather conditions - rains, storms etc., when even TV couldn't work sometimes.

So, we've enjoyed our stay completely. And we would definitely recommend this apartments.

Viacheslav (Russian Federation).

P.S. I've never wrote any hotel reviews, but I was inspired to share my joy with you all about Martinique!

We booked the Martinique solely on the Tripadvisor reviews. We wanted to be in town, close to the beach and restaurants. We wanted to relax and chill after a long journey and prepare for the next leg of our trip. All our boxes were ticked. The rooms are spotlessly clean and tidy, the attention to detail is everywhere for all to see. The bed was REALLY comfortable. Without being in your face all the time, the owners Antonia and Fred are very friendly, very knowledgeable and work hard to make sure you have a good time. They have a great network of contacts round the town so can fix anything. It is also fantastic value. Recommend unhesitatingly.

Port Douglas is quaint and fun with a great beach. We were only there for one night and we were sad we hadn't planned for longer especially when we got to the Martinique. We've never met friendlier or more helpful proprietors. They really take an interest in you and making sure you get the most out of your stay in Port Douglas. The location is great-- on the quiet end of Macrossan Street, the main street in Port Douglas-- just a few steps to beautiful 4 mile beach. No need for a car if you are staying at the Martinique-- the beach is right there and the town with its great restaurants and fun activities (which Antonia and Fred will tell you all about upon arrival) is entirely within walking distance. The hotel itself is charming, the rooms are spacious and very clean, complete with kitchenettes, and the owners have clearly done a lot to make it special. The pool is not the biggest but is charming and perfect for a quick dip on your way home from the beach. Based on the other prices we saw we think the Martinique is a great value in a great location.

P.S. Don't miss the Wildlife Habitat on the edge of town. Rent a bike and have breakfast or lunch with the birds and hand feed the kangaroos. Its a hidden gem!
