We stayed at Pepper's Port Douglas in February 2012, and fell in love with the place. Staff were welcoming and friendly, rooms were very nice and the views of the pool were magic. Ideally the pool could have been cooler, as it was bath like - but very clean; and it wasn't the resorts fault it was warm! After 7 nights we felt like part of the furniture. The gym was good, and the restaurant food was very nice.
We will certainly be back, and hope all the same Staff are still there - some great characters amongst them and all lovely people. Walking distance to the beach and the main street, which is handy for shopping or if you have had a few too many!
Access to the carpark is STEEP.
Thank you very much Peppers, hope to see you again soon.

Room Tip: Spa room on the ground floor on far side of pool was great, and recommended.

We enjoyed our second trip to this hotel in mid 2011. On our last visit, we came as a couple and booked one of the pool side rooms with its own veranda area and private seating. This was essential, as during school holidays, the pool side area is inundated with kids and it is very difficult to maintain a sunlounge.

This time, we booked one of the subpenthouses, at the rear of the hotel, looking towards the beach, with a private plunge pool and rooftop deck area. Absolutely fabulous room.

We found the food a little disappointing and usually ate our, but that is part of the appeal of Port Douglas. 5 minute walk to town, and about two minutes to the beach. Well located, well run hotel, with excellent rooms. Some previous reviewers have suggested that it is 'no good for couples'. I would dispute that : just make sure you chose your room well, and speak to the staff when booking if in any doubt.

We would return gladly, and hope to do so soon.

Went for two nights from Cairns to Port Douglas. Stayed at Peppers Beach Club. What a great place to be. Because we went in the low season the hotel wasn't fully booked and we good a great room with spa on the balcony. Room was really clean and had a king size bed, big bathroom and minibar. Pool is just fantastic. looks like a lagoon, loved it. Staff will bring you drinks and lunch to our deckchairs. Great place to relax.

I want to thank Peppers for their hospitality and service. My fellow and I had such a wonderful time! It is a well placed resort within walking distance of the main street as well as four mile beach, with a lagoon pool that you will want to float in every day.

The staff should also be mentioned. Everyone from the individuals attending the concierge, to the maintenance fellows always had a ready smile and greeting. Housekeeping also did a fantastic job during our stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in a studio spa suite - the downside was that there are no cooking facilities in the studi...

We stayed at Peppers in February 2012 and had a terrific two nights. The staff were friendly and well trained, the room was spotless and well maintained and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is getting a little old but not that it would bother you. The thing is that we stayed at Peppers courtesy of a fabulous Wotif deal. AUD 126 per night which included a plate breakfast is as cheap as anything available in Port Douglas and that price was only available for a 24 hour special deal. At that price the place was fabulous.

However, if I was paying the full tarrif I might be writing in a different tone. The room we had was a spa suite, but the spa is on the patio area in full view of the neighbouring units. My apologies to the lady next door, whoever you were, who opened the louvres on her patio to find me in the tub without bathers. I can only hope the bubbles covered any disturbing bits!

And that's one of the problems. Our room opened on to the pool area, as they all do on the ground level and as noted elsewhere, the pool area is fabulous. But you are cheek by jowl with the other guests. Sitting in the spa tub was accompanied by a sound track of kids playing in the pool and the doof-doof music some young people were playing. That's OK if your paying for a family resort price, or a deal such as we had, but if I was paying the full tariff, I'd be a litttle disappointed.

The room did smell of cigarette smoke and there was an ash tray supplied in our room, which was a minor annoyance as we had requested a non smoking room. The only cutlery or crockery in the room was cups and saucers and wine glasses, which made it difficult to eat our take away lunch. The "plate" breakfast consisted of bacon and eggs, but the bacon was one half rasher of bacon. I kid you not, we had it twice. All very well presented, and I know we had a budget package, but honestly, how much does a breakfast sausage cost? The place is also just a little too far to be a convenient walk to the local restaurants.

Overall though, a lovely hotel with great staff.

Room Tip: Get a room on the first or second floor. The ground floor units are lacking in privacy. And it loo...
