Finally today we got lucky and could go on our chopper tour to the Great Barrier Reef with snorkelling!
It was really unforgettable,
First is the view of the Barrier Reef from the sky that is absolutely breathtaking and then the snorkelling (wonderful too!)
If you can afford it you should go for it: money very well spent.

We booked onto the Cruise Whitsundays boat tour to Reefworld and were planning to take a flight over Heart Reef once we arrived at Hardy Reef. My husband asked the Hamilton Air chap on the boat (as he travels on the boat selling flights) if we were guaranteed a window seat as we didn't want to pay to see the reef and be sat in the middle of the helicopter. My husband was promised that one of each 'couple' was guaranteed a window seat and on this basis we booked the flight. When we came to board the helicopter the pilot and another guy put two women in the front and then their partners were then in each window which meant two couples had front and window seats and we were sat in the middle. We tried to tell one of the guys that we had been promised a window seat and he told us to sort it out ourselves with one of the guys in the window. I politely asked him if he would move and he refused as he was upset that he wasn't sat next to his wife! So, we were left stuck in the middle of the helicopter having been told to sort the seating out ourselves.

My gripe is that the guys loading should have asked the other guy in the window to move rather than leaving to to me as I'm sure he would have taken more notice of them than a random fellow tourist.

We have been on quite a few helicopter flights and fully understand that they have to be carefully weighted and that dictates where people can sit. However, on this occasion it clearly didn't matter who was sitting in one of the window seats so the dispatcher could have told the chap to move. We are used to dispatchers/pilots telling people where they should sit, not leaving it to the paying passengers to sort out as clearly there are selfish people who don't care about others.

Although we enjoyed the flight it left us disappointed and we were hoping to speak with the chap on the boat however once the flights were done and we were all back on the boat (and he didn't have to sell any flights) he was nowhere to be seen. It would have been nice of him to ask if we had enjoyed our flight but he clearly wasn't interested.

This has made us more wary now of helicopter flights, and taking what we are told as the truth. I am leaving this review to warn others that if you want a window seat you might not get it.

We flew in the helicopter over the reef from the Hardy Reef Pontoon. In my opinion, it was even more amazing seeing the reef from the air as opposed to diving or snorkeling. From the air you actually see the connected web of life of the largest living organism on earth...truly one of the 7 natural wonders of the world...spectacular experience. Worth the splurge!

Had an awesome helicopter flight out to Great barrier with scenic flight on the way. Highly recommend. Very professional company. Easy to communicate with. Pilot was lovely and informative. We came back on the boat. The whole process was well organised. Thanks for a great day out.

My husband and I booked ‘The best of both Worlds’ with Hamilton air for our wedding anniversary.

We had the most amazing experience, Matt our pilot was fantastic, the views where out of this world, the helicopter ride was smooth and very pleasant. Swimming on the barrier reef was an absolute delight. Sting suits where provided along with snorkels and equipment. Topped off by a stop on Whitehaven beach to enjoy a secluded picnic with sparkling wine on the most stunning beach we have ever seen!
We got to see the famous heart reef which was very adapt for our anniversary.
Matt was so friendly, professional and he went above and beyond to ensure we felt comfortable, happy and relaxed. He even joined us on the reef to show us some good spotting sights for marine life. He made us laugh, and also was very informative with the area, history, development and the helicopter itself. Matt took some great photos for us also. Which was very much appreciated.

We truly couldn’t of asked for a more perfect day. Such a personal, intimate, memorable, romantic experience.

Thank you Matt and Hamilton Air.

Highly recommend 5******
