It was great to see women and all human beings are not treated like this in prison anymore but also good to see that some of them went on and had good lives and helped in building Australia to be the better place it is now in so many ways. They were true past examples of Helen Reddie's song " I am Woman"..... Well worth the visit. It helps you appreciate what we have now.

This is a contrast to Port Arthur, seeing the prison system from the point of view of the women who were transported. Unfortunately not much physical remains are left but enough to give a good idea of what the place was like. We had a very good guide who was interested, passionate and informative. The reception staff was also helpful and friendly. There is a small souvenir/book shop on site. We traveled easily to the site on Public Transport Metro bus from Franklin Square.

We live in Hobart and have visited many times. This is a place steeped in history and the guided tours give a great perspective on how difficult times were back in the day. Wonderful volunteers and staff.

Superb historic site that takes you back in time. We did the self guided tour and it gave us plenty of time to look at everything and transport you back in time. Loved the cottage with the layers of lino on the floor and the layers of wallpaper still intact on the walls. A must do when you are in Hobart.
