A small boutique hotel on Sandy Bay, it says it is hosted accommodation but there are only staff there in the mornings. It is a self check-in but if there is a problem you have to phone to resolve it, this was done quickly but was none the less an annoyance. Our room was big and the bed comfortable, lighting was dim, low wattage bulbs. One old wardrobe which is not deep enough to accommodate clothes hangers without turning them at an angle. No useful drawer space.
Biggest gripe was breakfast where they advertise a "cooked breakfast ", a slice of reheated quiche does not constitute a cooked breakfast. The other mornings were not any better. It is a bit silly because they actually provide a pretty good continental breakfast.
I don't think we would return and would look for alternatives in the area.

Beautiful english style manor house with manicured gardens. This will probably suit the older couple as it follows in the heritage style. Nice touch with the complimentary port and fudge. Only flaw is that the breakfast was a little lacking. Perhaps more of a variety in cereals and some pastries would be good. Also the cooked breakfast that was offered was one choice of a scrambled egg with bacon and mushroom and came in a very small portion. I think a more substantial meal with more components and perhaps a choice of egg would be more appropriate. Also seperate soap in the shower region would be beneficial as only one travel soap included in the room which had to be shared between basin and shower,

Room Tip: As it is more for the older traveller, noise is not a problem at all.

We stayed at Clydesdale Manor on first arriving in Tasmania from the US. They were absolutely wonderful in helping us to solve several problems. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast delicious and the service over the top. We thank them.

Booked a ground floor double room with garden view, this was front of building facing busy Sandy Bay road. Road noise was dramatically reduced via double glazing of sorts on windows, noise barely perceptible. However the room was right next to main entrance door & you can be disturbed by opening/closing of this door when other guests are leaving etc.
Room is quite comfortable size & had very comfortable queen bed, 2 seater lounge, wardrobe, winged lounge chair, mini fridge & tea/coffee making. Bathroom was quite roomy with shower & toilet & complimentary toiletries, however we supplied own soap due to the miniscule size of that provided. Room comes with reasonable speed WiFi.
There is complimentary port wine & fudge & chocolate provided each afternoon in dining room, we partook & seated ourselves in the attractive quite rear garden. It was a nice touch.
Breakfast is excellent. Cereals, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, toast (do yourself) & jams, juice & freshly brewed coffee. The staff then advise you what they will prepare, in this case it was poached egg with brie, rocket & fried bacon pieces on a piece of toast. Very nice, albeit a small serving (half slice of toast, 1 egg)
Service is excellent & unobtrusive, check in details via email with a security code for front door to gain access & then obtain room key.
Clydesdale is situated within easy walk to Coles & Woolies supermarkets, & is surrounded by cafes & restaurants, is also within easy walk to water.
All in all a very pleasant & comfortable stay.
Would I return ? Very much so, however would request a room on the top floor at back.

Room Tip: Choose upstairs room away from front door. Would be quiter.

We stayed in Suite 1 on the ground floor for 4 nights. It is an old style manor built in 1880 & converted into 6 bedrooms hotel. Even though our room was facing the street, it was still quiet. The room was spacious, clean with a very comfortable bed & had everything you need except there was no safe box. A great location it is walking distance to town centre, Salamanca market, cafes, restaurants & supermarkets. Daily breakfast was included in our package with cereal, fruit, yoghurt & a delicious cooked breakfast by Tim. Mariannne, Kat & Tim are all very friendly & welcoming. Free wifi with good reception & also free parking.

Room Tip: Quiet room with garden view.
