My partner and I stayed in room 6 of Clydesdale Manor for three nights. The room was clean, comfortable, and was decorated nicely. The manor itself is beautiful and grand, with lovely gardens and furnishings. The manor offers free port every day, which was yummy and a real bonus. The room was also very quiet, even on the weekend, which was great. The Wifi was also excellent!!

The breakfast each morning was good, however it seems that management has changed since some of the reviews I read in 2016, which mentioned that the owners would cook something different each day. While our breakfast was good, some more variety during our stay would have been nice (bacon, eggs, tomato, sausage and beans each day), and three or four types of bread and cereal). I also think the manor needs to offer different teas (they only have black tea), serve fresh fruit for breakfast and serve something sweet, like croissants, as most B&Bs of the same quality offer these fairly basic things.

The only disappointment was the room servicing. After the first night we asked for our room to be serviced and left out the sign, but it wasn't serviced all day. Emily, the building manager, did follow up on this promptly and Tracey (a different staff member from the one day before) serviced our room the next day (although our teabags weren't filled up, which was a bit of a shame as we had run out).

All in all however it was a very comfortable and an enjoyable stay, and Tracey was a really lovely staff member and provides excellent breakfast service!

Room Tip: There is no wheelchair access to the upper rooms from what we could see.

Hi Sam,

Thank you for your review of Clydesdale Manor, and for taking the time to share your impressions with the Trip Advisor community.
It was great to read that you enjoyed your stay. Robert and myself took over the Manor in July this year, and are really looking forward to sharing the property with guests visiting Hobart.
Thank you for your feedback regarding breakfast - we will include some different tea in our range, and we try to change the menu around so guests staying for a few days have variety with breakfast. Some mornings it may be a traditional English buffet, and others it may be freshly made corn frittas, or eggs cooked to order.

Thank you again for your review, and we hope to welcome you back to Clydesdale Manor again.

Kind regards,

Emily

I was apprehensive after reading reviews about the self check in procedure. I was sent an email with very clear instructions and I was comfortably in my room within one minute of arriving.
The room was beautifully appointed and had all the amenities you would want, queen size bed, wardrobe to hang clothes and large bathroom wit all modern conveniences.
The common lounge are is a delight to relax with complimentary port and chocolate peanuts.
Breakfast in the dining room was delightful with a lovely view out to the garden and choice of both continental and cooked breakfast included in the rate. The breakfast and table service were excellent as was the coffee.
The location is excellent, a 2 minute walk to a good variety of shops and restaurants and 5 minutes to Wrest Point.
Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed in a standard room on the ground floor - queen bed. The B & B is not staffed of an afternoon so we were given a security code to access building. Parking is free and plentiful. We made use of the guest lounge although no fudge was provided as stated. We also lit the wood fire which was lovely on a coolish Hobart evening. The premises is walking distance to the Wrest Point Casino and Uni Tas. Breakfast provided as part of the tariff was plentiful and there were cooked options on request. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: I would probably avoid the front rooms as the timber floor in the passageway was very noisy as guests came and went.

We stayed for too, too brief a time having arrived late and gone by 400am next morning! However, Kat offered and delivered lovely muesli and banana bread so we had something in our bellies before heading off to the airport. Note to self: never again!
The bed was comfy, the spa appreciated, the location ideal being close to the harbour front.
We really didn't want for anything except more time - something Clydesdale couldn't provide.
Next time it'll be be fore longer!

We stayed in this lovely old building before it changed hands, having someone on site to greet you when you arrived and care about the place gave it heart ! but sadly it feels like you are just rattling around in a old building by yourself now (as lovely as it is ) there is a phone number to call if there is a problem but it isn't the same.We arrived in the afternoon and used the code to get in,where we found pigeonholes with the keys in,one for us and a spare to leave in the box just in case you lock yourself out, this does not make you feel very secure, when anyone who is in the house can get into the boxes. The house was empty ,cold and unwelcoming. The room is nice and bed comfortable and clean.
That evening we heard someone trying to get in but could not work out how in as he could not work out the code in the dark.A Japanese tourist had arrived and not knowing what to do he ended up going around the back and we let him in ,showed him were the key was and then showed him to his room.Later he ended up needing help again as he had locked himself out of his room and didn't know about the spare key .This is why I think there needs to be someone on site ! we felt like we were the hosts there.
Breakfast was pleasant ,but was not as it was advertised on the web site! a fully cooked breakfast is not a Bruschetta one morning and a piece of reheated Quiche the next, but there is yogurt ,pastry's and fruit too.The girls who catered for the breakfast were lovely ,but staying there now, is not what it used to be and has lost that special feeling
