Yes it’s expensive but it’s so worth it! We loved every bite of all of our choices. Service second to none called my husband by his name all night in a crowded busy restaurant. We had the pork belly, crab dumplings and Peking duck pancakes for entree and they were all phenomenal. Crab dumplings were a standout, so much crab, so much yum! They even served the entrees split onto our two seperate plates.
For mains we had the spicy salted squid and the Angus beef Peking style. The beef was melt in your mouth amazing! Loved everything about this place. Food and staff were as good as each other! Will be back every time we visit Hobart!

Our second visit to Me Wah. A packed restaurant anticipating great food. An amazing array of food was offered all delicious.

A most enjoyable lunch finished off with green tea creme brûlée.

Very good value for such an enjoyable meal.

Having been to many reknown Chinese restaurants in Australia, I found Me Wah to be in the top ranks. Prices are similar compared to most fine dining Chinese.

My recommendations which we tried and really enjoyed would be braised abalone, roast pork, beef cheek and the pork belly ‘dong po rou’. Ordered a bunch of other items which were good but not worth a mention.

Dessert were western style created by a chef who claimed he picked up some skills from Gordon Ramsay himself.

Excellent service with Restaurant captain/Manager coming to check on us regularly.

A must try for Chinese food lovers.

A wine list that is large, but weighted heavily with expensive french vintages.

The location is a bit odd. Once inside, you can forget the ‘strip mall’ location..

It’s pretty old school, in terms of feel and the food is bit too Cantonese. Sauced a bit heavily. The Peking duck was a bit chunky.

The Pork belly was excellent.

It’s a nice place to visit and recommend, but I could see no reason to come back.

Alas, the excellent service does not compensate for the food.

I was extremely disappointed. My husband had the wagyu beef for $95 we expected it to melt in your mouth although it wasn’t at all, actually was no where near the quality of other beef I’ve had. We also got 5 other meals one which was honey chicken which I was craving off their takeaway menu which is only $18 on that but I paid $28 to have it in the restaurant. I know you pay abit more to eat in for service ect but you shouldn’t have to pay $10 more especially when your drinking expensive wine and cocktails and the service was average. I asked the girl pouring my water for a beer and she said she had to get the waiter which took a extra 10 mins for him to come over.
