It is not often that I eat Indian food, less so when I am in the city/CBD. However, if I am in the mood for Indian, Green Pepper at the Parliament end of Bourke St is one of the first places that comes to mind.
With a fine dining experience and the floor coverage of two shops plus an upstairs, Green Pepper is a place in demand. Regularly crowded and filled, the best advice, particularly for groups is to book and come earlier (12pm).
The crowd and demand does place a little strain on the service quality level, but with a little patience this aspect is not a significant contributor to the overall experience. With a wide selection to choose from, I find the best approach is to pick a number of curries across the different meats and styles which can then be accompanied by rice or naans (or both). In this way, a group lunch is a shared lunch - everyone wins.
A drink of lassi invariably helps to complement the spices of the meal too and adds to the overall Indian dining experience.
