I have previously been to Collins Kitchen for a girlfriends birthday Brunch which was a fantastic day out. We returned recently for Afternoon Tea and was not disappointed. The cake selection was great and service was prompt. Good value all round, I would definately go back.

Just a quick thank you to the staff at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne for facilitating a wonderful stay. The staff were always helpful, and no request was too ridiculous. The room was beautiful, had a fantastic view (unrequested, but very welcome) and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. A very special mention must go to the restaurant, which was mind-blowing in its quality, service and menu. The dinner menu was superb; despite the many outstanding alternatives offered by Melbourne, you would not want to go anywhere else due to the breadth of offering, the quality of the food, and the friendly and attentive service. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing. And the breakfast...well, it remains unsurpassed in my experience. Everything was so fresh and delicious and had anything you could possibly want. Great choices for tea and excellent coffee as well. I'll be back!

Room Tip: Book early! Rooms on the side that face the cathedral have a better aspect than the other side which...

The location of this hotel is very convenient, near CBD shops, major Melbourne event locations (like the MCG), Fed Square and transport. We could walk to most places we wanted to go.

The service at reception, the club lounge (for both breakfast and evening drinks and canapes), the concierge, housekeeping and room service was faultless. We were upgraded to an Ambassador suite, and it was an excellent room - huge with living, dining, kitchen areas and a separate bedroom. Also great views over the city.

Dear screwtape,
We would agree, Grand Hyatt Melbourne is in a great location to explore all the wonderful activities Melbourne has to offer. As you mention, most major attractions are within walking distance – shopping, theatres, great bars and restaurants, even the MCG and Rod Laver for big events! It’s great to read that our staff went over and beyond your expectations to deliver true 5 star service. We hope that you choose to stay with us next time you visit Melbourne!

Expecatations were really high from this hotel.. considering the reputation and locatiion..
What really worked for me was the great staff and the great service.. the Satff were really polite and very attentive/helpful..
What was a serious let down was the decor... dark pretty much everywhere, the lobby, the corridors ... the rooms were average for a 5 star (I have stayed in better ones in a 4 star) and the fact that Wi Fi was a PAID service at premium rates... The Health Club was average too and the pool.. tiny.

Dear parvathi,
We pride ourselves on our 5 star service, and we are pleased to see our staff made your stay with us that little bit extra special. When we did the major redesign of our rooms a couple of years ago, we worked hard to create a contemporary, welcoming yet stylish feel to our rooms, and also bringing that sense of style and welcoming atmosphere to the hotel’s public spaces such as the lobby and the corridors. We’re disappointed to hear that you found our décor dark and not to your taste, and we will certainly take on board your feedback regarding wifi charges. We are in the process of doing a major review of our internet provision – wifi and internet usage is definitely not a luxury for either the business or leisure traveller these days. We do hope that when you next visit Melbourne, you would consider staying with us again.

If you are deciding which hotel to go to, and there isn't much difference in price, then choose the Grand Hyatt - the breakfast is superb! It is an open kitchen, with chefs preparing your food as you watch, so all nice and fresh, and a great choice - from Chinese dumplings to freshly prepared pancakes and everything in between. We thoroughly enjoyed our night away - couldn't fault the hotel - spacious room, huge bath, spotlessly clean, comfortable and a terrific view. Staff were courteous and efficient too. Booked through wotif, so great price too!

Dear tempsh,
We certainly wouldn’t argue – breakfast at Collins Kitchen is a wonderful way to start your day. From eggs freshly cooked your way, to dumplings, stir fry and waffles with berries and whipped cream all served right before your eyes in the open kitchen, there really is something for everyone. It is wonderful to read you enjoyed your stay – we hope that next time you are shopping for a good deal you choose to stay with us again!
