Owner description: The Royal Exhibition Building is one of the world's oldest remaining exhibition pavilions. On 1 July 2004, it became the first building in Australia to achieve a World Heritage listing. Located in Carlton Gardens, the pavilion was originally completed in 1880 for the first of two international fairs hosted by Melbourne. On May 1st, 1901, the initial Commonwealth Parliament was held here, an event commemorated in 2001, the centenary of Australian Federation. Today, with its meticulously restored interior, expansive galleries and soaring dome, the Great Hall offers an impressive setting for trade shows, fairs and cultural and community events.

A beautiful building and gardens. It would be helpful if it had some more information on the history of the building.

The architecture was remarkable. Well maintained. Gardens well maintained. Pity it was closed, but enjoyed it. Set in beautiful parklands.

This is one of my favourite buildings in Melbourne. Loads of history with a beautiful architecture and a gorgeous interior. Beautiful for a wander at your leisure. A peaceful way to spend some time

Very nice place to walk around and enjoy the park and the view of the building from the park. There's a reason why it's the most used place for weddings, and it's because it's one of the best areas in Melbourne. No need to spend too much time here, just relax and walk around, enjoying the shadows and views in the hot summer.

Thank Daniel E

Well worth a quiet walk through the gardens and if you can get inside the building it is amazing. Has a flower show each April in the gardens
