Hotel is and appears oldish but it's location outweighs its demerits points. Rooms curtains have certainly seen better days and appear sagging at the edges. Therefore sunlight comes in through the ends of the curtains giving rise to an unplanned morning wake up call as early as 615 am every morning. No need pay for a river view room as the hotel is situated too far away for a meaningful river view through gaps between buildings
Location however is good and the local area include a very good family run Chinese restaurant about 100m down on Adelaide Terrace . Also nearby about 50 m have two very useful convenient late night grocery shops for late night snacks , fruits and ice cream .
Car park is adequate except when there is a conference on at the hotel. Members of Club at Hyatt card can enjoy free car park. How about that !Great savings of A$25/- per night ,Also this card enjoy substantial savings on eating at all the hotel outlets So do bring your card -very useful. Car park lift needs serious maintenance as door closes with a bang
Coffee at Cafe downstairs reasonably priced and the ham cheese croissant provides for a quick breakfast before driving to see the Koalas , kangaroos, wombats and possums at Caversham Wild life Park at Swan Valley an Easy 35-40 drive away . Well worth going even for adults
Hotel also walking distance to Hay Street Perth Mint to buy some silver and gold one ounce coins minted in Australia.
When coming back from Hay street shopping mall take the free Red Cat bus. Very convenient and drop one street before hotel
Overall , as noted by other reviewers this old dame has some demerit points but the plus points like its location , generally friendly service at the reception and the concierge ,the lovely spring sunshine coming in through the sky light in the foyer of the hotel, the accessibility by car to the City and Burswood more than makes up for its shortcomings
When back in Perth I will stay at this Hyatt again
