The Hyatt was a friendly, clean and very presentable place to lay your head down for the night. The location is terrific, the staff extremely friendly and the breakfast was amazing, worth the $42 they ask.

My first reaction was disappointment with the room. The "King room with river/city view" turned out to be a very small, pokey room on the first floor looking across to office windows opposite. We booked direct with Hyatt and not with an Agent, so I would have expected better. However, what I could not fault was the excellent immediate check in we got arriving early at 9.30 am and the offered late check out of 12.30 pm. Despite the dark side room and the fact that we could hear occupant in the next room going to the toilet and the sound of the toilet flush thunderous - and we were woken early in the morning with the more than thunderous sound when the next door shower was turned in - the bed was clean with crisp white linens that did not smell. Bathroom towels and toiletries were faultless and more than adequate. Tea, coffee and mini bar facilities of good quality except some biscuits would have Completed the perfection. However what was absolutely superb was the morning buffet breakfast. It was vast: array of everything imagineable for a perfect breakfast and just could not be faulted in any way. Provided we got a better room, we would stay here Again. Location is excellent, service faultless and it was good value.

Room tip: Insist on a river/city view if that was what you booked. Otherwise you will get a dark back room

Dear marigoldKent

Many thanks for your review, although sorry you were disappointed with your room and for the associated issues. On a more positive note, I'm pleased we could accommodate your early checkin/late check out requests. Also delighted to read your comments re service provided and our breakfast selection, which will be shared with the team!

Hotel is and appears oldish but it's location outweighs its demerits points. Rooms curtains have certainly seen better days and appear sagging at the edges. Therefore sunlight comes in through the ends of the curtains giving rise to an unplanned morning wake up call as early as 615 am every morning. No need pay for a river view room as the hotel is situated too far away for a meaningful river view through gaps between buildings

Location however is good and the local area include a very good family run Chinese restaurant about 100m down on Adelaide Terrace . Also nearby about 50 m have two very useful convenient late night grocery shops for late night snacks , fruits and ice cream .

Car park is adequate except when there is a conference on at the hotel. Members of Club at Hyatt card can enjoy free car park. How about that !Great savings of A$25/- per night ,Also this card enjoy substantial savings on eating at all the hotel outlets So do bring your card -very useful. Car park lift needs serious maintenance as door closes with a bang

Coffee at Cafe downstairs reasonably priced and the ham cheese croissant provides for a quick breakfast before driving to see the Koalas , kangaroos, wombats and possums at Caversham Wild life Park at Swan Valley an Easy 35-40 drive away . Well worth going even for adults

Hotel also walking distance to Hay Street Perth Mint to buy some silver and gold one ounce coins minted in Australia.
When coming back from Hay street shopping mall take the free Red Cat bus. Very convenient and drop one street before hotel

Overall , as noted by other reviewers this old dame has some demerit points but the plus points like its location , generally friendly service at the reception and the concierge ,the lovely spring sunshine coming in through the sky light in the foyer of the hotel, the accessibility by car to the City and Burswood more than makes up for its shortcomings
When back in Perth I will stay at this Hyatt again
Rating 4 bright stars

Room tip: No need pay for a river view room as hotel situated too far away for a river feel and river view only through gaps between buildings

Many thanks for your detailed and constructive feedback and of course the plus points; delighted also to read you are one of our Club at the Hyatt members and enjoy the associated benefits.

I can also advise that upgrades to our rooms – amongst other proposals – are currently being reviewed by our owners and we hope to have decisions on these in the near future.

Look forward to welcoming you back and please do let me know if I can be of any help with your plans.

A longer walk than expected to city centre. Nice to walk along river if enough time. View into atrium but was hoping for river view. Carpet pretty old in main areas. Shower was best part of our dray. No peppermint tea:( we were woken by fire alarm 7.15 am but fortunately no fire.. just a faulty alarm system. Thought they bound have compensated us as we had specifically gone away for the night to have a break and a rest! It didn't live up to the 'five star luxury' weekend that we had been sold! The staff were great though ( all 2 of those we saw!)

Dear elke545

So sorry to read from your review that your visit wasn’t quite the relaxing break you had anticipated; my apologies for the fire alarm, which was indeed an unexpected event. Your comments re carpets etc duly noted, upgrades of same being part of the improvements we have submitted to our owners.

On a more positive note, good to read your great comments re the staff you met.

Please do let me know if planning to return, I’d be happy to help with your plans.

Sincerely

We live in country WA and returned to the Hyatt for our annual trip to the Christmas pageant for a two night stay.

On a positive note the hotel was up to its usual clean and comfortable standard and the standout departments were security and housekeeping. However, they were let down by other departments. Last year I described the Hyatt as a home away from home, this year it didn't meet that level,

There were multiple opportunities to meet our expectations but these were missed. For example room service was ordered and we were told if would take 30 minutes. However, it took over an hour by which time the tired kids were asleep and therefore a lot of food was wasted.

Similarly, we got locked out of our rooms at 11am despite getting a late checkout. Given we had three cards, this was more than a faulty card. Having to try and get assistance at the busiest time for reception whilst my wife and children stood around in wet bathers waiting was nothing short of frustrating and humiliating. I do thank the security manager for at least letting us back the rooms.

Unfortunately these were but two examples we experienced.

We will be back at the hotel in a few weeks and hope the hotel can demonstrate that we were just unlucky this time.

Dear PerthTraveller99

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Whilst it’s good to read your positive comments, it’s certainly disappointing we did not meet all of your expectations this time around; this is always our goal and I’m sorry for the frustrations experienced on this occasion. Your feedback will be shared and if there’s anything I can do to assist with your return visit, please let me know.
