Recently stayed here for 4 nights and it was a great base for us.
Location is great, walking distance to all the main sights and close to bus and train stops.
The room was cleaned every day with new toiletries provided and the tea + coffee was replenished everyday.
The bed was really comfy which was a big plus for us!
Staff were very friendly and welcoming - we received a free upgrade in arrival which was much appreciated!
The only downside to this hotel is the noise.. you can hear the traffic from outside and also the walls are really thin..we could hear the guy snoring next door .
Overall it was a great stay and I would recommend

After reading some of the reviews I was wondering what to expect when I arrived here. We caught the SkyBus to pretty much outside the hotel which is really convenient, and check in was fairly quick. Were given the keys to the room, and upon opening the door every window was open as well as a fan being on, this was as previous guests had been smoking in the room so the smell was awful, also there were no handles on the windows to shut them bearing in mind it is winter. We asked to be moved to a different room and that was no issue, problem was the Windows in the new room also didn't have any handles to close them. We finally got to room number three where there was handles on the Windows (woohoo). The room is basic ultimately and is like student halls. The room is clean and tidy though and comfortable. The walls are pretty thin so noise can be an issue (particularly on a saturday) but on the whole we slept fine. The wifi is pretty good although it tends to drop out fairly frequently. Location is great and you are just a short walk into the city centre. Some of the staff are more friendly than others. Would recommend for a short stay if you are happy to stay in basic accommodation.

Hi there

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Your review is of concern to the management team, as it contains some concerning comments. All windows have handles on them or they wouldn't be able to close and would be flapping around in the weather, so that is not really a possibility. Furthermore, smoking is not permitted in any indoor public areas in NZ, so we do not allow smoking in any indoor part of the hotel. We have signs all around the hotel as well as a disclaimer on the registration card you sign on check in, that no smoking is permitted and failure to comply with our rules results in a charge and or eviction. We most certainly would not rent out a room that smells of smoke. This is strictly against policy. It is possible that someone may have been smoking in their room nearby or outside the hotel and in this case we would appreciate being notified so that we could act upon this. Please feel free to email us to discuss this further as I feel your review portrays the hotel as rather non-chalant and irresponsible and that is not the type of operator we are. On a positive note we do appreciate that you found value for money in our hotel and enjoyed our handy location. We appreciate you business and thank you kindly for staying. Best regards, Hotel Management.

Spent one night only. Easy location, basically on K Road and literally in front of the Sky Bus to/from the airport. Obviously old, not super super clean but yet ok. Stuff amazingly nice and helpful and smiling . What I really suffered was the super cold room. I mean , REALLY cold. The room was provided with a small electrical heater and I letrally slept hugging it all night long. Offers wide breakfast for 15NZ$ for those lazy not willing to step outside .

Hi Palito

Thank you kindly for taking the time to review our hotel. The NZ spring season started on the 1st of September and we turned off the central heating around the middle of the month due to complaints about the heat. We have a portable heater in every room and are more than happy to supply extra warm bedding/heating in the event that a guest is not comfortable and warm. Please be sure to notify us if anything about your stay is less than satisfactory. We have a range of guests arriving from a range of climates and we do our best to cater to the majority. Our number one priority is guest comfort and we are truly sorry your stay was uncomfortable. Thank you for your patronage and all the best on your travels.

I spent three nights here on a work trip and while the location is convenient, it is very noisy. You get noise from Queen St and K Road (loud traffic and associated noise), within the hotel, and in my case from the staff carpark outside my window.

The rooms are basic and a little shabby although clean. The internet is very poor - cutting out all the time so that it wasn't possible to use it for checking emails without lots of frustration. I ended up using the data on my phone to get online.

Hi there

Thank you for reviewing your hotel experience. We are sorry that you experienced alot of noise during your stay. We are situated in a very busy part of Auckland City so sometimes there can be outside noise. We are glad you found your room clean and enjoyed our low price point. Thank you for staying with us.

Not bad. Had a twin single room and it was rather small. The onsite restaurant was good value though. On a steep hill in Auckland set back off the road. Not much in the way of onsite parking. Not too far from the Skytower which is well worth visiting.
