The hotel and staff are charming. The edgy interior is attractive and the old buildings surrounding a central atrium have been cleverly renovated. We booked a studio, which was a small lounge and a bedroom. But.......the lounge room looked out directly onto the court area of the bar which was on the same level, patrons sitting at tables and general activity right outside the window. The lass who showed us to our room advised us not to go out of the window as it could not be locked from the outside which would allow the public access to the hotel. In other words the bar was open to the public. We closed both the window and the curtains. The bedroom was pretty well exactly the same width as the queen sized bed. No room for bedside tables. No window. We didn't sleep too well in this stuffy environment, particularly as the noisy air conditioning sounded like a motor bike. The ensuite was excellent though and the same size as the bedroom. Notwithstanding these difficulties we enjoyed our stay. The TV screens in both the bedroom and the lounge were a nice touch. Breakfast in the atrium restaurant was very good and we appreciated the complimentary drink in the library. The location of DeBretts is very good, surrouded by clothing boutiques good restaurants and a very fine bookshop. Car parking is available, a valet service, and there is an unloading space right outside the hotel. We will certainly give this place another go but not in Suite 1b.

Room Tip: Classic rooms have king size beds

Hotel Debrett is right on High Street and is an easy walk to the shopping and eating areas of the CBD, Skycity, the viaduct and Britomart.

Despite being in such a busy location, our street view suite was very quiet thanks to the extra glazing.

We loved the funky decor- it was nice to be somewhere that had some colour and character to it rather than another generic chain hotel decorated in shades of grey. The bath was nice and deep and great for a long soak, and I loved the provided green velvet dressing gown so much I nearly bought it to bring home.

The BED, the bed the bed..... wow.
The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on- it was heavenly, just the right mix of firm and softness, and we found it very difficult to drag ourselves out of it!
There was also a gorgeous velvet and linen throw on it which was luxurious and so soft to sleep under.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, we had breakfast from the menu in our room, and the cocktails at the bar were delicious especially the Earl Grey Sour- it was delicious. We didn't take advantage of the complimentary drink in the drawing room as we had a dinner booking elsewhere but the drawing room was a lovely touch and very cosy and inviting.

Will recommend to friends and definitely be back!

We stayed 4 nights in a Classic Room with a street view. We never heard street noise. The bed was excellent. Our friends were in a Classic room as well. Although they were similar, the floor plans differed, so each felt unique. They are not large, but well designed to make the most of the space. There were many options for lighting, which was nice. There is a safe and a cofee maker. The bathroom with separate tub and shower was wonderful. There is a step up into the bathroom, so be cautious in the dark. The location is wonderful for walking in the CBD or to the harbor. The staff was VERY helpful and pleasant. The dinner menu changes frequently in DeBrett's Kitchen, and the food was wonderful. Breakfast was pleasant, the included choices were self serve, but cooked breakfasts were available andservedby the wait staff. If you want a change from the large hotel experience, do give DeBrett a try!

Room Tip: I would ask for a street view, rather than an atrium view.

Friendly staff, quiet rooms, wonderful design, great atmosphere, fantastic bed, good breakfast, perfect location.
Usually I am a bit suspicious on reading the remark 'boutique hotel', because it tends to mean: small place for too much money. But this hotel totally rocks it. Would definately stay there again.

Perfect weekend away. DeBretts is centrally located offering a great access to the CBD in Auckland.

Reception and waitstaff were attentive and professional. Every request was promptly handled and dining recommendations hit the mark.

We loved the Happy Hour in the lounge, hosted in a social manner we the opportunity to interact with other guests.

DeBretts provided the foundation for a great weekend away in Auckland.

Room Tip: We enjoyed a loft suite overlooking courtyard. It was great.
